Sachin Lucknow: During the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K Sharma today, while replying to the questions raised by Members in the Legislative Council, clearly placed the government position before the House. During this time, several Members expressed their gratitude to the Urban Development Department and Sharma for the completion of works in their respective areas.
Replying to a question related to the deceased dependent quota under the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Sharma stated that, after receiving advice from the Personnel Department, through order number dated 22 July 2025 issued by the Executive Officer Nagar Panchayat Chauri Chaura, District Gorakhpur, Kumari Sneha Singh (daughter of Girjanand Singh), the elder unmarried sister of the late Kumari Ambika Singh, has been appointed to the post of Tax Collector under the deceased dependent quota. He also informed that Kumari Sneha Singh assumed charge of the said post at Nagar Panchayat Chauri Chaura, District Gorakhpur on 15 December 2025 in the afternoon.
A.K Sharma informed the House with regard to electricity tariffs related to educational and other social institutions, that the government maintains a sensitive and liberal approach towards these institutions. He clarified that electricity tariffs for educational institutions should not be in the commercial category or higher. In this regard, a written request will be sent to the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission so that necessary action can be ensured.
Along with this, he also stated that from the financial year 2020–21 to the financial year 2025–26, during the past six years, no increase has been made in electricity tariffs of any category, which reflects the government commitment towards providing relief to consumers.
On the question of road construction in various areas/localities of the Municipal Council, Mainpuri the Urban Development Minister stated that after the expansion of the limits of Municipal Council Mainpuri, a total of 196 roads/lanes were constructed in various localities/areas at a cost of ₹23 crore 19 lakh. In this regard also, the Members thanked Urban Development Minister Sharma.
