UTTAR PRADESH Praising the budget Presented for the financial year 2026-27, Uttar Pradesh Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh said that the budget Presented today by the state government is a “roadmap” to transform the dreams of 250 million people into reality. This budget, embodying the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” is a decisive step towards making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy. The new Uttar Pradesh of New India is now poised to become the largest hub of investment and development. Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this budget Presented by Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna is a perfect balance between inclusive development and future technology.

The Water Power Minister said that this budget is a visionary and Public welfare budget that strengthens the state water security, irrigation capacity expansion and rural drinking water systems. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, he said that this budget will provide new strength to the resolve of “water to every farm” and “pure water to every home.”
The Water Power Minister stated that a provision of ₹18,290 crore has been proposed for irrigation and flood control schemes, which is an important step towards strengthening the State agricultural system.
Long-awaited projects such as Madhyam Ganga Stage-2, the Kanhar Irrigation Project, the Ken-Betwa Link Project and the Bhoont Dam Project are being steadily accelerated. Upon completion, these projects will create and restore irrigation capacity on approximately 4.49 lakh hectares, benefiting millions of farmer families.
He stated that the construction of 2100 new government tube wells and the reconstruction of 569 defunct government tube wells located in dark zones in the state has restored irrigation capacity on approximately 1.62 lakh hectares, directly benefiting approximately 1.43 lakh farmer families.
Additionally, the completion of 285 flood projects last year provided relief to approximately 49.90 lakh people and the cleaning of 11,065 kilometers of drains strengthened the drainage System. Minister Swatantra Dev Singh stated that a Provision of ₹22,676 crore has been proposed under Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply. Against the target of providing functional household tap connections to 2.67 crore rural households in the state, 2.43 crore households have already been Provided with clean drinking water. The provision of approximately ₹22,452 crore for various components of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the financial year 2026–27 will pave the way for the rapid provision of tap water to the remaining households.
Minister Swatantra Dev Singh stated that this state budget will promote the creation of permanent assets and employment generation, placing special emphasis on capital expenditure. Proper management of water resources, flood Protection and strengthening irrigation infrastructure will enable Uttar Pradesh to achieve new heights in agricultural Production and Rural Development.
