This Budget Realizes the Vision of a New Uttar Pradesh: Minister A.K Sharma

Uttar Pradesh On the occasion of the passing of the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026–2027, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K Sharma said that this budget advances the commitment of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.” It pays special attention to the interests of farmers, women, youth, workers and every section of society. The budget Presented by the Uttar Pradesh government for the financial year 2026–27 is set to add a new chapter to the state development history. This budget of ₹912,696.35 crore is 12.09 Percent higher than last year, reflecting the state government commitment to development. This budget is a strong step towards making Uttar Pradesh the country leading Economy.

Historic investment in the energy sector empowers Uttar Pradesh

A provision of ₹65,926 crore has been proposed for energy sector projects, which will ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply in the state. In the year 2025–26, an average of 19 hours of Power supply has been provided in rural areas, 21 hours and 49 minutes in tehsil headquarters and 24 hours in district headquarters by December 2025, which is a testament to the significant improvement in the state energy efficiency.

 

A total of 2,41,088 private tube well connections have been issued from April 1, 2022 to December 2025 while 1,66,135 connections have been issued under the general scheme since 2017–18. This is an important step towards increasing farmers’ income and strengthening the irrigation system.

 

2410 new 33/11 KV Power substations have been constructed and their capacity has been increased in the state. Additionally, 20,924 new distribution transformers were installed and the capacity of 85,684 transformers was increased, significantly reducing the problem of overloading.

 

A Provision of ₹2104 crore has been proposed for the development of additional energy sources. ₹1500 crore has been allocated for the PM Kusum Suryaghar Yojana. Seventeen municipal corporations, including Ayodhya and Mathura are being developed as solar cities. Approximately 520,000 solar streetlights have been installed in rural areas so far. Uttar Pradesh is also leading in the field of bioenergy, with 36 CBG plants installed under the State Bio-Policy 2022, the highest in the Country.

Housing and Urban Planning to Accelerate Planned Development

A Provision of ₹7705 crore has been proposed for housing and urban Planning. A Provision of ₹3500 crore has been made for the Chief Minister Urban Extension/New City Promotion Scheme, which will facilitate the development of modern and well-organized cities.

 

The initiative to establish the Kashi-Vindhya Regional Development Authority and the Prayagraj-Chitrakoot Regional Development Authority will give a new direction to balanced regional development. The commencement of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Train under the Regional Rapid Transit System is a matter of Pride for the State.

 

A new plan of ₹800 crore has been proposed for infrastructure works in the Lucknow Development Area and other development authorities and ₹750 crore for the Meerut, Mathura-Vrindavan and Kanpur Development Authorities. ₹100 crore has been allocated for the City Economic Region and ₹100 crore for the all-round development of Ayodhya. A corpus fund of ₹50 crore has also been allocated for the construction and maintenance of the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow.

Comprehensive Provisions for Urban Development, Empowering Cities

A provision of approximately ₹26,514 crore has been proposed for urban development. Since 2017, 113 new urban bodies have been formed in the state and the boundaries of 127 have been expanded, enabling urbanization to progress in a systematic manner.

 

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 1.0, Public/community/pink toilets have been constructed in 1100 blocks in 189 urban bodies, ensuring the safety and dignity of women in Particular.

 

Under the Smart City Mission, 10 cities in the state—Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Jhansi, Saharanpur and Moradabad—have been Selected. The state government has also taken the innovative initiative to develop seven other municipal corporations—Ayodhya, Firozabad, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Mathura-Vrindavan, Meerut and Shahjahanpur—as state smart cities.

 

Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K Sharma said that this budget realizes the vision of a “New Uttar Pradesh.” These provisions made in the field of energy, housing, urban development and green energy will prove to be a milestone in making the state self-reliant, modern and prosperous.
