Sachin Malik Delhi: Preparations across the world have entered the final Phase to spread the message of “Yoga for Healthy Longevity” on the Global Stage. Indian missions abroad are Playing an active role in making the International Day of Yoga 2026, to be Celebrated on June 21, a historic event. Indian Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates General have been organizing large-Scale Yoga camps in cities worldwide over the Past several days, attracting not only members of the Indian diaspora but also a large number of local Participants.
Information Shared through the official X (formerly Twitter) handles of Indian missions indicates that every effort is being made to ensure this Year celebrations are unprecedented. According to a Statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), more than 210 Indian missions, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), are organizing Yoga events at over 2,500 locations across the Globe.
At the United Nations Headquarters in New York, more than 800 Participants attended a Common Yoga Protocol session Jointly organized by India Permanent Mission to the UN and the Art of Living Foundation. The Embassy of India in Washington, D.C. has officially invited the Public to Participate in its flagship outdoor Yoga Session at the iconic Lincoln Memorial. In Portugal, special digital registration campaigns based on this Year theme, “Yoga for Healthy Longevity,” are being conducted at the historic Templo Romano de Evora, While Similar campaigns are being organized in Berlin, Germany, in Collaboration with local Municipalities.
In Cairo, the Embassy of India will host its main Yoga Day event on the morning of June 21 in front of the world-famous Pyramids of Giza, one of the world ancient wonders. Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, the Embassy of India will organize a special Yoga session beneath the iconic dome of the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
One of the biggest highlights of this Year Celebrations has been the remarkable response on Social media and digital Platforms. A special live Yoga session organized by the Ministry of Ayush and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga on June 14 created a new Guinness World Record. The YouTube live Stream attracted 435,831 verified viewers Simultaneously, Surpassing all Previous records. The achievement reflected Global Participation, with People from around the world Joining the session online. Indian Embassies and High Commissions in countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, Mauritius, Jordan, Lithuania and Hong Kong conducted extensive registration and Promotional campaigns through their X and Facebook Platforms.
Indian missions have Played a vital role in transforming India ancient Cultural and spiritual heritage of Yoga into a Global movement. In Collaboration with the ICCR, they also coordinate Yoga Certification Board (YCB) examinations abroad, enabling foreign Yoga instructors and Professionals to receive Government of India-recognized digital Certification.
Additionally, under Global initiatives such as Yoga Sangam and Heartfulness Global Classes, international Participants Joining Programmes between June 15 and June 21 in 11 international languages, including Arabic, French, Spanish, and German, are being issued digital Participation certificates directly via WhatsApp and email, further Promoting this ancient Practice for Physical and mental Well-being Worldwide.
