Sachin Malik: To Strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between India and the West African nation of Mali, the India–Mali Business Forum was organized in Bamako. The forum marks a significant milestone in the trade relations between the two countries and was Jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Bamako.
Taking a major Step toward the collective and inclusive development of the countries of the Global South, the First India–Mali Export Promotion Forum was held in Mali capital, Bamako. The event was inaugurated by Mali Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maiga, in the Presence of India Ambassador to Mali, Dr. N. Nandakumar.
The forum is more than Just a business Gathering- it reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi vision of Promoting Collective Growth and Self-reliance among Global South nations. India has consistently Supported the sovereignty, economic independence and inclusive development of developing countries.
Through this initiative, India has reaffirmed that it views Africa not merely as a consumer market but as a trusted Partner in Shared Growth and Prosperity.
According to a Post by the Embassy of India in Mali on X, a high-level Indian delegation led by Amit Kumar, Joint Secretary (Foreign Trade–Africa), Ministry of Commerce, along with a large business delegation representing various Sectors, Participated in the forum. Discussions focused on trade Policy, investment opportunities, B2B engagements and trade Exhibitions.
Official data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Shows Steady Growth in bilateral trade between India and Mali. Total trade Stood at US$210.60 million during the financial Year 2024–25 and increased to US$287.61 million during the Period from April 2025 to January 2026, reflecting the Growing Strength of the economic Partnership.
This initiative forms Part of India foreign Policy aimed at apromoting South–South Cooperation and fostering mutual Prosperity among developing Nations.
