Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister A.K. Sharma today visited the Mega Electricity Camp organized at Sathiaon village in Azamgarh district and interacted directly with consumers to review the resolution of Electricity related Grievances.
The camp has been organized under the ‘Vidyut Seva Evam Samadhan Abhiyan’, being conducted by the Energy Department with the spirit of ‘Sarkar Aapke Saath’. The campaign will continue till June 30, 2026, and aims to Provide Quick Solutions to issues related to electricity supply, Smart meters, billing, new connections and updating consumer details such as names and Mobile Numbers.
Energy Minister said that the State government is fully committed to resolving every Electricity-related issue faced by consumers. He urged People to make maximum use of these camps being organized at Executive Engineer offices, SDO/Assistant Engineer offices and various field locations.
Highlighting the unprecedented rise in electricity demand due to the severe heatwave, A.K. Sharma informed that Uttar Pradesh successfully met a Peak demand of 30,458 MW Yesterday evening. He further Stated that the State supplied 30,276 MW at 3:19 AM today, while the Peak demand at 2:30 PM had already reached 30,357 MW, with the Possibility of further increase by Evening.
Inister said that the entire Power department is working continuously to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the extreme summer conditions so that consumers do not face inconvenience.
Responding to criticism and Political remarks over electricity management, A.K. Sharma Stated that the government focus is only on improving Public service delivery. “Our competition is with ourselves. Every day we aim to Perform better than the Previous Day. Consumers are like deities for us and even the Slightest inconvenience to them is unacceptable,” he Said.
He further highlighted the transformation in Uttar Pradesh Power sector over the Past few Years. According to the minister, the State average Peak demand during 2012-17 was around 13,000 MW, Whereas in recent Years it has risen to nearly 30,000 MW. Uttar Pradesh has now become the highest Peak Power supplying State in the country for four consecutive Years.
The Minister also noted that compared to 2017, the number of electricity consumers in the State has more than doubled and currently exceeds 3.70 crore. Nearly 1.70 lakh Previously unelectrified hamlets have now been Electrified, While rural Electrification and urban Street-lighting initiatives have significantly transformed the State Infrastructure.
He informed that Uttar Pradesh thermal Power generation capacity has increased from 5,160 MW in 2017 to 9,120 MW at Present. New thermal Power Projects in Meja and Mirzapur have already received Cabinet approval, further strengthening the State energy Infrastructure.
Minister Sharma also emphasized the remarkable improvements made in transmission and distribution systems, including expansion of Substation capacity, replacement of dilapidated wires and Poles and Strengthening of the overall Power Network across urban and rural areas.
Minister said that electricity has now become an essential requirement of modern life, Powering homes, hospitals, industries, businesses and communication systems. The government, he added, is continuously working towards building one of the best Electricity systems not only in India but Globally.
Energy Minister reaffirmed that the State government remains fully committed to Strengthening Power generation, supply and infrastructure while ensuring better consumer services across Uttar Pradesh.
