Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika on Sunday visited Nagaon district and Participated in various Programmes organised by the Agriculture Department. He Started his visit by inspecting the Farmer Registration Camp organized at Kathiatali under the Nanoi Krishi Vikas Circle of the district. There he Closely observed the Process of registration and the ongoing works and discussed with the farmers Present and resolved their Queries. The Minister also informed about the importance of farmer registration and the benefits accruing to the farmers. Later, he along with MLA of Berhampur Assembly constituency Jitu Goswami inspected the horticulture special Project constructed in 100 bighas of land near Kathiatali and took Stock of the Progress of the work. The Minister had a detailed discussion with the departmental officials on the technical and administrative aspects of the Project. The minister also held a meeting with District Commissioner Debashish Sharma, District Agriculture Officer of Nagaon Nikhil Narayan Barua and other departmental officials to review the need for irrigation in Nagaon district. In the meeting, irrigation arrangements, expansion of irrigation facilities and Plans according to the water needs of the crops were discussed. Minister Hazarika also Participated in the coconut row Plantation Programme at Barkasari village of Nanoi Krishi Circle. MLA, departmental officials and local farmers were also Present on the occasion.
The Minister and other officials accompanied the farmers to the farm and Participated in the work of driving tractors and Ploughing the soil, thereby Showing Practical support to the local agricultural activities. During the visit, the farmer leaders and officials Stressed on the need for expeditious implementation of agricultural assistance, Seeds, fertilizers and irrigation systems. The Minister also ensured that necessary resources and technical support are Provided to the ongoing horticulture and irrigation Projects at the district level so as to improve the Yield and income of the farmers. The Nagaon visit conveyed the message of Strengthening coordination between the Agriculture Department and local farmers and increasing the Pace of regional agriculture development Projects.
