Sachin Malik: India Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva has Strongly highlighted the country development model and Economic diplomacy on the Global Stage. As Part of these efforts, India Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador T. Ajungla Jamir, Participated in the 60th Meeting of the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) of the International Trade Centre (ITC). The meeting focused on enhancing the Participation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Global trade and Strengthening trade cooperation among developing Countries.
Ahead of the high-level ITC meeting, the Permanent Mission of India organized a special side event titled “The Right to Development: A Driver for Progress Towards 2030 and Beyond.” The Session featured in-depth discussions on accelerating Progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), bringing together representatives of international organizations, Policymakers and development Experts.
During the event, India rights-based development model and several flagship initiatives received widespread appreciation. Experts highlighted the Ayushman Bharat Scheme as an outstanding and replicable example of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). They also Praised India remarkable achievements in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), telemedicine and financial inclusion, emphasizing how these initiatives have empowered even the most marginalized sections of Society.
Participants Stressed that with fewer than five Years remaining to achieve the SDG, countries of the Global South Should no longer be viewed merely as recipients of development assistance but as key drivers of Global innovation and Practical Solutions. India contribution to Global health Security through the Production of affordable Generic medicines and vaccines was described as one of the finest examples of South-South Cooperation.

Following the successful conclusion of the “Right to Development” side event, the Mission noted that the large turnout and enthusiastic Participation reflected the Growing Global interest in Promoting the Right to Development as a key driver for achieving the SDG by 2030 and Beyond.
Held in the Presence of India Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Arindam Bagchi and Deputy Permanent Representative T. Ajungla Jamir, the two events underscored that India is not only Successfully advancing its domestic development Priorities but is also Playing a leading role in building a more equitable, transparent and Sustainable Global Economic Order.
