Sachin Malik: The Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chancellor of State Universities, Anandiben Patel, attended the 10th Convocation Ceremony of Siddharth University, Kapilvastu, Siddharthnagar today. On this occasion, degrees were conferred upon 52,176 undergraduate and Postgraduate Students and all degree certificates and mark Sheets were uploaded to DigiLocker. A total of 37 Students were awarded Gold medals, including 28 female Students and 9 male Students. In addition, 25 research Scholars received Ph.D. degrees, comprising 15 male and 10 female Scholars.
Addressing the Gathering, the Governor congratulated all Graduating Students, Gold medalists, research Scholars, teachers and Parents. She described the occasion as a Proud milestone reflecting the Students’ hard work, Perseverance and dedication. She said that a degree is not merely a certificate but a Pledge of Knowledge, responsibility, and commitment to Nation-Building.
The Governor informed that 700 Anganwadi kits were distributed to Anganwadi centres—300 in Siddharthnagar, 200 in Maharajganj and 200 in Sant Kabir Nagar. Appreciating the district administration for this initiative, She said the campaign has been running continuously for the Past five Years, benefiting nearly 60,000 Anganwadi centres and would continue in the Future.
Highlighting the importance of women health, the Governor said that the HPV vaccination campaign is being implemented to Protect Girls from cervical cancer. Under the campaign, 600 Girls—200 each from Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj and Sant Kabir Nagar—were vaccinated today, including 300 daughters of Police Personnel serving in the respective district Police lines. She noted that the initiative began at Jan Bhavan and has since expanded across the State. More than 300,000 Girls have already been vaccinated through CSR initiatives and Public support. Expressing Gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, She announced that the HPV vaccine would now be Provided free of cost to Girls.
The Governor Presented certificates of appreciation to the district and Police administrations of Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar and Maharajganj for their Significant contribution to the HPV vaccination drive. Siddharthnagar ensured vaccination of 9,948 Girls aged 14–15 Years, Sant Kabir Nagar vaccinated 1020 Girls and Maharajganj vaccinated 1428 Girls.
Expressing concern over the dowry system, the Governor called for Collective Public Participation to Eliminate this social evil. She Praised Siddharth University for its contribution to education and development while urging it to Strive for even Greater excellence. Stressing the importance of Cleanliness, She encouraged all universities to develop Clean, beautiful and environmentally friendly Campuses.
She highlighted the successful development of a Miyawaki Forest at Jan Bhavan, which has Significantly increased Green cover and directed universities to establish Similar forests on their campuses. She also referred to the construction of a beautiful and functional Pond at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, completed within nine months with district administration support, and advised other universities to develop Similar water conservation Structures.
The Governor said that review meetings of Government and aided Colleges affiliated with State universities had been conducted at Jan Bhavan. She Personally Chaired 38 review meetings over 19 days, during which several issues affecting higher education were identified and efforts are underway to resolve them to improve educational Quality.
She emphasized that the Purpose of education extends beyond employment—it Should enrich life and contribute to human welfare, Social upliftment and national development. Universities, she said, are not merely institutions that award degrees but laboratories of ideas where solutions for society and the nation are created. She encouraged Students to adopt scientific thinking, innovation, and resource conservation by developing sustainable Models.
The Governor observed that India has entered the Golden Phase of Amrit Kaal, creating new opportunities in science, technology, innovation, agriculture, healthcare, and education. She urged Students to combine talent with service, knowledge with humility and success with Social responsibility. Regardless of how successful they become, She advised them never to abandon truth, compassion, hard work and ethical values, describing these as the essence of Lord Buddha teachings and the true Purpose of Education.
She Stressed that while the Present era is marked by rapid technological advancement, increasing Pressure on natural resources Poses a serious Challenge. She called upon every citizen to make water conservation, environmental Protection and energy conservation an integral Part of daily life, warning that water scarcity could become one of humanity Greatest future Challenges.
Referring to the Circular Water Economy Model of Surat, Gujarat, the Governor explained how treated wastewater is scientifically recycled for industrial use, ensuring both water conservation and economic benefits. She urged officials, Public representatives, colleges, and universities to adopt Similar initiatives at the local level.
She also highlighted the Waste to Wealth campaign, Stating that over the Past twelve Years it has evolved into a nationwide movement Promoting Cleanliness, environmental Protection, employment Generation and Self-Reliance. She appealed to everyone to contribute actively to this Mission.
Reviewing the country Progress over the last twelve Years, the Governor said India has achieved remarkable milestones in economic Growth, social development, technology, infrastructure and Global Standing. She highlighted flagship initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including Jan Dhan Yojana, Direct Benefit Transfer, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana and Ayushman Bharat, which have extended the benefits of development to the last Person in Society.
She also referred to agricultural initiatives such as the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, irrigation expansion, organic farming, Farmer Producer Organisations and improvements in roads, Electricity, drinking water and digital connectivity in rural areas. Modern expressways, railway Stations, airports, Vande Bharat trains, the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and the National Infrastructure Pipeline were cited as symbols of India Transformation.
The Governor noted that the Digital India campaign has Positioned India among the world leading digital economies, While initiatives such as UPI, Startup India and Make in India have boosted entrepreneurship, innovation and employment. She described the National Education Policy 2020 as a landmark reform that Prepares Students to compete Globally.
She further Stated that India G20 Presidency, humanitarian assistance during Global crises, commitment to Climate action and the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam have Strengthened the country international reputation. She also Praised India scientific and administrative capabilities demonstrated through the world largest COVID-19 vaccination drive and the development of indigenous vaccines.
The Governor urged Students to resolve that the light of knowledge would illuminate not only their own lives but also the future of society and the nation. She expressed confidence that their talent, Character and dedication would make a Significant contribution to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
During the convocation, the Governor inaugurated the newly developed Kilkari Creche and Kalarav Children Park on the university campus. She also released the university Convocation Souvenir and Annual Report.
The Governor unveiled books authored by the university faculty and launched KEBO Software, developed to empower Persons with disabilities. She Presented certificates to Police officers and commendation awards to the university best teachers. School Children from villages adopted by the university Presented cultural Performances and the Governor distributed certificates to the Participants. She also honoured Students who secured first Place in various competitions organised in the adopted Villages.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari urged Young People to contribute to a Self-Reliant and developed India by embracing environmental conservation, water conservation, sustainable development, Skill development, innovation and Self-Employment opportunities.
Chief Guest Prof. Madhulika Agrawal encouraged Students to actively contribute to the vision of a developed India by adopting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and Robotics, Promoting innovation and research, Protecting the environment and upholding ethical values in the service of the Nation.
In her Welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kavita Shah said that Siddharth University is Steadily Progressing toward academic excellence under the Guidance of the Chancellor. She highlighted that Grants received under various Schemes have been utilized to Strengthen the university infrastructure, Smart Classrooms, laboratories and digital learning facilities.
