Sachin Malik: Due to the severe Storm and thunderstorm that Struck during the night of May 25–26, the Power infrastructure in several districts of Uttar Pradesh was badly affected. Strong winds and Stormy conditions caused Significant damage to Electricity transmission lines and towers in districts including Sitapur, Unnao, Devipatan, Badaun, Bareilly, Basti, Kushinagar, Varanasi and Deoria, leading to disruption of Electricity supply in many Areas.
During the severe Storm, major transmission lines that suffered damage Included:
400 KV Bareilly–Unnao Line Circuit-I & II,
220 KV Badaun–Roza Line Circuit-I & II,
220 KV Bareilly–Dohna Line,
220 KV Parichha–Dunara (Jhansi) Line,
220 KV Sahupuri–Raja Ka Talab (Varanasi) Line,
Basti–Khalilabad 132 KV Nath Nagar Line,
The breaking of conductors and damage to transmission towers on these lines caused widespread Power Disruptions.
However, under the continuous guidance and monitoring of Energy Minister A.K. Sharma, teams from the Power transmission and distribution departments immediately launched restoration work on a war footing. Departmental officers and employees worked tirelessly throughout the night under Challenging conditions, remaining in the field continuously and restoring most of the affected lines quickly, thereby resuming electricity Supply.
Despite such a major natural disruption, the department successfully managed to maintain Power supply through alternative sources to minimize inconvenience to the Public.
The Storm had affected A total of 139 substations connected to the 33 KV distribution system and nearly 1500 electricity Poles were either broken or damaged. Through continuous restoration efforts, electricity supply to 133 substations had been resumed by this morning, while work on the remaining six substations was nearing completion.
In most Parts of the State, electricity supply was restored within a few hours, While in other affected areas, restoration was completed within 24 hours. Amid such a massive natural calamity, the Prompt response, technical efficiency and relentless hard work of the energy department field Personnel demonstrated the State government firm commitment to Providing uninterrupted Power Supply to the Public.
Energy Minister A.K. Sharma Personally reviewed the situation continuously and instructed officials to ensure that no laxity was Shown in restoration work. Appealing to the People of the State for Patience and cooperation, he urged them not to Pay attention to misleading reports and misinformation spread by certain elements. He assured that the government and the energy department Stand firmly with the People in every situation and are continuously working to keep the Power system functioning Smoothly.
