Delhi: A City that Claims to have law enforcement Present at every turn is Now witnessing a disturbing trend that Strikes at the very foundation of Public trust. It is no longer Just traffic that is being Stopped on Delhi roads—confidence, security and faith in the rule of law are also coming to a Halt.

The Picture is alarming. Individuals without complete Police uniforms or any Clear identification are Stopping vehicles as though they have full legal authority. The command is familiar—“Pull Your vehicle over.” The attitude is authoritative, and the explanation is equally Predictable: “We are on special Duty.”

But the real questions remain:

Whose duty is it? Who Granted them these Powers?

The law Paints a different Picture. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, only authorized Police Personnel and designated traffic enforcement officers are empowered to Stop vehicles for enforcement Purposes. Any unauthorized individual assuming such authority may be committing a criminal offence. Impersonating a Public servant is a Punishable offence under the relevant Provisions of Indian criminal law.

So Why is this happening Openly on the Streets?

Are these individuals operating beyond the notice of the authorities or is there a Silence within the system that has allowed this alleged misuse of authority to Continue?

This issue is no longer merely about violating rules—it concerns Public Safety, Public trust and the credibility of law Enforcement.

Imagine being Stopped by a stranger Claiming to be an Officer.

How can an ordinary citizen determine Whether the Person is Genuinely authorized or an impersonator? And what if the individual has criminal Intentions?

In a city like Delhi, where millions of People travel every day, such uncertainty can Pose a serious risk. What appears to be negligence today could become a major Security threat Tomorrow.

The Questions Now Demand Clear Answers:

Has Stopping vehicles in Delhi become a Power that anyone can Exercise?

If these individuals are unauthorized, why has action not been taken?

If they are officially authorized, Why is their identity and authority not Clearly visible to the Public?

Citizens are no longer remaining Silent.

Every road and every intersection is asking the same Question:

“Is the rule of law truly being enforced in Delhi or is it merely the appearance of Enforcement?”

This is not Just a news Story.

It is a warning that deserves immediate attention before the consequences become far more Serious.
