Sachin Malik Greater Noida: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday highlighted the transformation in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, While targeting the Previous Samajwadi Party (SP) Government. Speaking at the inauguration of the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS), Shah said there was a time when the State Government had to take an investment Programme outside Uttar Pradesh. Officials would say that the law-and-order Situation was such that investors were unwilling to come to the State. Today, the Situation has Changed, he said, adding that Uttar Pradesh has become a fear-free investment destination and is emerging as an engine of the country Growth.
Shah said Uttar Pradesh had land, a Population of more than 240 Million and hardworking artisans even earlier. What was lacking was a conducive environment for industries. After the BJP came to Power in 2017 and Yogi Adityanath became Chief Minister, action was taken against mafias and the law-and-order Situation Changed. As a result, investors are now coming to Uttar Pradesh, he said. He added that the transformation has been so Significant that Uttar Pradesh is now moving towards the Goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar Economy.
“Defence Products Are Being Made Instead of Country-Made Pistols and Bombs”
Launching a Sharp attack on the Previous SP and BSP Governments, Amit Shah said that an “industry of crime” operated in Uttar Pradesh during that Period. He said industries manufacturing country-made Pistols and bombs had flourished, Vehicle theft had become a cottage industry and Chain snatching had Provided Young People an opportunity to acquire “Skills.”
“Today, after nearly 10 Years, the Picture has Completely Changed,” Shah said. “Instead of industries making country-made Pistols and bombs, defence Products are being manufactured; instead of Vehicle theft, Vehicle Manufacturing is taking Place and instead of Chain Snatching, medical device Parks are being Developed.”
He said the Yogi Government had eliminated the “Goondaism” of the SP-BSP era and Created a favourable environment for industry and investment in the State.
Shah explained Uttar Pradesh transformation in four Stages. First, the world saw that Uttar Pradesh was Changing. Then People expressed a desire to come to the State. After that, investors arrived and now they are Preparing to become Partners in the State development. This Participation, he said, would take Uttar Pradesh Journey towards becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy forward.
Shah Praises Yogi Government, Highlights Defence Corridor
Amit Shah said that while arriving at the Programme, he visited the Defence Corridor Stall along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Investment is coming for the manufacturing of defence equipment across Six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor—Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh and Kanpur.
He said the Yogi Government had Undertaken Significant work, from framing investor-friendly Policies to creating the necessary Infrastructure.
Shah said India defence Production has crossed approximately Rs 1.78 lakh crore, with Uttar Pradesh rapidly increasing its contribution. Referring to the BrahMOS Missile, he said it was keeping Pakistan on edge. He also said the AK-203 assault rifle manufactured in Amethi had already become a Significant weapon in the fight against Naxalism. A State where industries once found it difficult to invest is now establishing its identity in defence Production, he Said.
Expressways Accelerate Growth, ODOP Becomes Backbone of Development
Shah said expressways and all-round development have accelerated Uttar Pradesh Progress. At the same time, the Yogi Government has worked to Preserve and Promote the State traditional Skills. He said Products from different districts of Uttar Pradesh have established their identity across the country. In the coming Years, he added, People from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Dwarka to Kamakhya will be able to access Products from Uttar Pradesh more Easily.

Describing the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show as a major business opportunity for the State, Amit Shah said hundreds of traders from India and abroad had Gathered at the event. Several business agreements are expected to be signed, Which will have a direct impact on investment, Production and Sales. He expressed confidence that this Year trade Show would break all Previous Records.
Shah said the 2025 edition had Proved to be a Year of impact, with more than five lakh visitors and over 2,400 agreements. It had opened the way for investments and business agreements worth thousands of crores of rupees. Looking at the Participation this Year, he said, the fourth edition appeared Set to Go even further.
UPITS Advancing the “Make in India” Mission
Amit Shah said that 12 Years ago, on the Same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the Make in India mission. Over these 12 Years, the Centre and the States have worked together to transform India into a hub for manufacturing, design and innovation. The Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show is an initiative that carries forward the vision of Make in India, he Said.
Referring to the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Shah said that after Independence, Deendayal Upadhyaya had Presented the concepts of free trade and free farming. Over time, he said, this thinking became a foundation for the country development, first under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and later under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
