New Delhi : The 2026 Assembly elections have reached a decisive stage, with the first phase of voting completed on April 9 and campaign momentum building across West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
In West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said feedback from grassroots workers in Siliguri points to growing public support for the Bharatiya Janata Party, citing voter dissatisfaction with the ruling All India Trinamool Congress.
The party’s outreach is set to intensify further, with MP Manoj Tiwari scheduled to lead roadshows and rallies ahead of polling on April 23 and April 29.
In Tamil Nadu, the contest has grown increasingly combative, with Raja Anbazhagan of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam expressing confidence of a clear victory from T. Nagar, crediting governance-led improvements while questioning the credibility of rival candidate B. Sathyanarayanan and dismissing criticism from Edappadi K. Palaniswami as politically motivated.
Responding, Tamilisai Soundararajan alleged corruption and stalled development under the DMK, urging voters to back the National Democratic Alliance.
Meanwhile, in Kerala, Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan has called on the Election Commission of India to release constituency-wise polling data from the April 9 vote without delay to uphold transparency.
