Disability Pension Increased from ₹300 to ₹1000, Benefiting Over 1.1 Million Beneficiaries
Sachin Malik: Narendra Kashyap, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Class Welfare and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Uttar Pradesh stated that the budget of ₹9,12,696.35 crore for 2026-27, Presented by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is a strong roadmap to realize the grand vision of a developed Uttar Pradesh by 2047. He said that this budget of the Yogi government is dedicated to the 250 million citizens of the state, a decisive step towards empowering and making them self-reliant and will play a significant role in making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion Economy.
Minister Kashyap informed that the Yogi government has proposed an allocation of ₹3402 crore for Backward Class Welfare schemes, which is 9 Percent more than in 2025-26. A provision of ₹3,060.50 crore has been made for the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme. ₹210 crore has been allocated for the marriage grant scheme for daughters of poor families belonging to Other Backward Classes and ₹20 crore for the hostel construction Scheme for Students.
He said that the Yogi government is committed to social justice and inclusive development. In this regard, a provision of ₹2140 crore has been made for schemes for the empowerment of persons with disabilities, which is 8 percent more than in 2025-26. Under the Disability Pension Scheme, more than 1.1 million Persons with disabilities are being Provided a Pension at the rate of ₹1000 per month. He mentioned that before 2017, this amount was only ₹300, which the Yogi government increased to ₹1000. An allocation of ₹1470 crore is proposed for this scheme.
Minister Kashyap informed that ‘Bachpan Day-Care Centers’ are being operated in 18 divisional districts for the pre-school readiness Program for hearing-impaired, mentally challenged and visually impaired children aged 03 to 07 years. In addition, the establishment of new Bachpan Day-Care Centers is underway in 07 aspirational districts of the state—Chandauli, Siddharthnagar, Bahraich, Shravasti, Fatehpur and Sonbhadra.
He said that the objective of the Yogi government is to empower backward classes and Persons with disabilities by providing them with education, respect, economic security and opportunities, thereby integrating them strongly into the mainstream. This budget is a significant step towards social justice and inclusive Development.
