UP on Alert Over Flu, Hospitals Directed to Maintain Adequate Stock of Medicines and Oxygen

Sachin Malik Lucknow: Amid a rise in cases of seasonal flu in Uttar Pradesh, the Health Department has intensified Preparations to ensure the availability of treatment and essential medical resources in hospitals. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reviewed the situation with health officials across the state through a video conference on Saturday and directed hospitals to maintain adequate Stocks of oseltamivir (Tamiflu), oxygen, nebulizers, oxygen masks and Bronchodilators.

In view of the increasing number of Patients, hospitals in the concerned districts have been directed to remain fully Prepared, while regular monitoring of medical resources has also been Ordered.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak directed that all critically ill Patients admitted with Symptoms such as breathing difficulties must undergo flu testing. If People who have come into contact with Patients suffering from influenza-like illness or respiratory infections develop symptoms, antiviral medicines Should be Started in a timely manner as Per medical advice.

Separate OPD in Districts Reporting Higher Number of Cases

In districts reporting a higher number of flu cases, separate OPD have been ordered for Patients with respiratory complaints. This will facilitate examination, medical consultation and treatment while also helping control overcrowding in hospitals.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak directed that four to six isolation beds be kept ready at the district and combined hospital levels in every district for the treatment of critically ill Patients. Officials were also instructed to ensure that there is no Shortage of medicines, oxygen or other essential equipment while treating serious Patients.

Separate Registration Counters for Flu and Fever Patients

The Deputy Chief Minister directed hospitals to establish separate registration counters for Patients Suffering from fever and flu-related illnesses. The objective is to ensure that Patients are registered Quickly and receive medical consultation and treatment without unnecessary waiting.

Deputy CM Conducts Online Monitoring from HOPE Centre

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the central Command and Control Centre HOPE (Health Online Parameter Evaluation), established at the Health Bhawan in Kaiserbagh, Lucknow and reviewed healthcare facilities in hospitals across the state through online monitoring.

He sought information from medical officers regarding the availability of medicines, oxygen and other essential resources in hospitals and directed them to immediately address any Shortages.

Special Vigilance in Districts Along the Nepal Border

Special surveillance has been ordered in the border districts of Uttar Pradesh adjoining Nepal. The Health Department has been instructed to effectively monitor cases of flu and fever in these Areas.

Officials have also been directed to ensure that every Patient arriving from Nepal or Uttar Pradesh receives immediate medical assistance and necessary Rreatment.

The Deputy Chief Minister further directed officials to educate Patients and their attendants in hospitals about the use of masks, hand hygiene and Proper cough Etiquette.

He said the Government is fully alert regarding the health and safety of the People of Uttar Pradesh and that the flu Situation is being continuously Monitored.

Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health, Amit Kumar Ghosh, Director General, Medical and Health Services, Dr Pawan Kumar Arun and other senior officials were Present at the review Meeting.
