New Delhi : Shani Jayanti, which is also known as Shaneschara Jayanti, is one of the most auspicious days in Hinduism. It marks the birth anniversary of Shani Dev, who is known for governing planet Saturn, as per Hindu Mythology. He is the deity who is associated with discipline, Karma and justice. Observed every year on the new moon (Amavasya) of the Jyeshtha month, this day upholds immense spiritual and astrological significance for everyone.
Especially if you are someone who is going through Sadhe Sati or Shani Dhaiya, this day becomes of even more importance. Sidhharrth S Kumaar, Chief Astrologer, NumroVani, explains, “These phases are often associated in astrology with pressure, delays, emotional heaviness, responsibility, karmic correction, slow-moving outcomes, and deep internal restructuring.” With this, Sidhharrth spoke about multiple remedies that can be done. He said, “The idea behind remedies is not to “escape Saturn,” but to align better with discipline, grounding, emotional steadiness, and self-awareness.”
Here is a list of a few remedies to do on this day.
Apply Mustard Oil On The Navel Before Bath
On Shani Jayanti morning, apply a few drops of mustard oil around the navel region in a gentle clockwise motion before taking a bath. In traditional remedial practices, mustard oil is strongly associated with Saturn because of its grounding, warming, and stabilising symbolism. The navel is often seen as an energetic centre connected with balance and vitality. This simple practice is used as a grounding ritual, especially during emotionally heavy Saturn periods.
Foot Soak Meditation And Kansa Foot Massage
This is a deeply Saturnian remedy because Saturn governs the feet, grounding, stillness, endurance, and accumulated stress. Place common salt on a wooden plate and stand barefoot over it for around 10 minutes in silence or simple meditation. Afterwards, discard the salt in the washroom. Then apply mustard oil to the soles of your feet and gently massage using your hands or a Kansa roller. This practice is often used symbolically for energetic release, grounding, and nervous system relaxation during intense Saturn phases.
Chant Or Write Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam
Kaal Bhairav is often invoked in traditions connected with time, karmic discipline, protection, fear release, and boundary correction, all themes that resonate with Saturn. On Shani Jayanti, chanting and writing Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam is a powerful reflective practice. For many, writing works as a meditative discipline, while chanting helps with emotional centering and rhythm.
Wear Lapiz Lazuli Energised With Maa Kaali Mantra
Lapis Lazuli is traditionally associated by some practitioners with clarity, truth, mature communication, and inner steadiness, qualities relevant during Saturn-heavy periods. Wearing it as a pendant in a yellow thread after energising it with a Maa Kaali mantra is your suggested remedial framework.
