NEW DELHI: Parvati Jayanti 2026 will be observed on Tuesday, July 21, marking the birth anniversary of Goddess Parvati, the divine consort of Lord Shiva and the embodiment of Adi Shakti, the supreme feminine energy in Hinduism. Celebrated during the Shukla Paksha Ashtami of the Ashadha month, the festival holds deep spiritual significance for devotees seeking prosperity, harmony, and inner strength.

Besides being revered as the Mother of the Universe, Goddess Parvati is also worshipped as one of the Dwadasha Siddhividya Goddesses, making the occasion especially important in several Tantric traditions.

Parvati Jayanti 2026: Date and tithi timings

According to the Hindu Panchang, Parvati Jayanti falls on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Parvati Jayanti Tithi timings:

  • Ashtami Tithi begins: 4:02 am on July 21, 2026
  • Ashtami Tithi ends: 5:16 am on July 22, 2026

The timings are based on the local time in New Delhi, India.

Why is Parvati Jayanti celebrated?

Parvati Jayanti commemorates the appearance of Goddess Parvati, who symbolizes love, devotion, strength, motherhood, and divine feminine power. In Hindu belief, she is the eternal companion of Lord Shiva and the source of creation, protection, and transformation.

The day is considered highly auspicious for offering prayers to seek marital happiness, family well-being, prosperity, and spiritual growth.

Goddess Parvati as a Siddhividya deity

While Goddess Parvati is widely worshipped as Jagadamba, the universal mother, ancient scriptures also identify her as one of the twelve Siddhividya Goddesses.

In Tantric traditions, devotees perform special rituals dedicated to the Siddhividya forms of the Goddess. These practices are believed to help devotees fulfil sincere wishes, overcome obstacles, and advance on their spiritual journey through disciplined worship and meditation.

Spiritual significance of Parvati Jayanti

Hindu scriptures describe Goddess Parvati as the compassionate force that removes suffering in all its forms. Devotees believe her blessings help overcome three kinds of hardships:

  • Adhibhautika: Problems arising from worldly or physical causes.
  • Adhidaivika: Difficulties caused by natural or divine forces.
  • Adhyatmika: Inner suffering caused by ignorance, fear, or spiritual imbalance.

Offering prayers with devotion on Parvati Jayanti is believed to bring peace, protection, wisdom, and overall well-being.

How devotees observe Parvati Jayanti

The festival is observed with prayers, fasting, and special puja dedicated to Goddess Parvati. Many devotees visit Shiva and Parvati temples, offer flowers, fruits, and sweets, and recite sacred hymns in praise of the Goddess.

Married women often pray for the long life and well-being of their spouses, while unmarried devotees seek blessings for a harmonious future. Spiritual seekers also dedicate the day to meditation and worship, believing it strengthens their connection with the divine feminine.

The timeless message of Parvati Jayanti

Beyond its religious significance, Parvati Jayanti celebrates qualities that Goddess Parvati represents: compassion, resilience, devotion, patience, and unconditional love. The festival reminds devotees that inner strength and unwavering faith can help overcome life’s challenges while fostering harmony within families and society.

As millions of devotees mark Parvati Jayanti 2026, the festival continues to inspire spiritual reflection and reinforce the enduring importance of Shakti in Hindu tradition.
