New Delhi: For all practical purposes, your inner sense of self is defined by the Sun’s placement in your birth chart. It is a spiritual representation of a person’s core identity, ego and life purpose. In more real-world terms this boils down to your fundamental character, your self-image, your literal physical energy and immune strength – which is your overall life force as well as your life purpose.
The last one especially, is not in reference to the job you have to pay your bills. Instead, it is to signify the path to your fulfillment. In Astrology, the Sun itself rules Leo, but as a star, it is present in each and every birth chart. And how it is placed is exactly what determines the above mentioned factors.
What Does a ‘Weak’ Sun Mean?
The Sun is at its weakest in the sign of Libra, which is where it is considered ‘fallen’. Besides this, the Sun being placed in the 4th, 7th and 12th houses, are also considered ‘challenging’ leading to predispositions like persisting emotional insecurity, ego clashes in relationships and a lack of vitality respectively. In the body, the Sun is represented by the heart, spine and bones – so pain or weakness in these areas could also indicate a weak Sun.
Not just for weak placements, even if you have a strongly-placed Sun in your birth chart (10th, 1st and 9th houses being optimum here) you can always strengthen it. Spiritual expert Subhali Chatterjee lists 5 ragas to meditate to for the next 45 days to boost the Sun in your chart, and hence your life force.
Raga Bhairav
Listen to this at dawn – between 4AM and 7AM.
Chatterjee explains how this boosts your Prana Shakti. When committed to, the Raga can banish intense morning lethargy and also regulate high blood pressure and ease spinal ailments. This is also the Raga to listen to when suffering from career stagnation.
Raga Saurashtram
Listen to this early morning – between 5:30AM and 8AM.
If you’ve been strugglung with asserting yourself, assuming leadership qualities or commanding attention, this Raga will ease your burdens. Meditating to this Raga, explains Chatterjee, will heal conflicts especially with male authority figures and is also potent to dim the effects of an eclipsed Sun in your birth chart.
Raga Bilahari
Listen to this at the peak of morning – between 7AM and 10AM.
A weak Sun tends to cause issues like imposter syndrome, lack of self-worth as well as social anxiety. This Raga’s bright and bouyant energy keeps those afflictions at bay. “It helps you ‘shine’ in public spaces,” says Chatterjee.
Raga Ahir Bhairav
Listen to this early morning – between 5AM and 7AM.
The energy of this Raga is described by Chatterjee as “deeply soothing”. Its waves target the heart and help being stability to it. Chatterjee says it can feel particularly helpful if one suffers from unstable cardiac rhythms and stress-induced heart palpitations.
Raga Deepak
Listen to this late afternoon or at sunset – between 4PM and 7PM.
This Raga activates the fire element in your body. If you suffer from slow digestion, low metabolism and feel fatigued round the clock, this Raga helps recharge your internal solar energy.
She also suggests the Raga Surya and the Raga Lalit as bonus ragas, to be heard between 5:30AM and 8AM, and 3AM and 6AM respectively. While the former is a ‘Janya scale’ and a powerful astrological remedy the latter is akin to an “astrological bridge” balancing the karmic pressures of Saturn with the bright energy of the Sun.
Caution: These Ragas are believed to carry divine energy and hence will not work if you treat them casually, clears Chatterjee as these aren’t meant to be treated as white noise. In reference to the 45 days, the process must be intentional and the commitment to the process – thorough. She also rightly clears that these remedies though effective, are not the whole solution. They are catalysts. Real change still depends on the actions you take. “Use this practice as a powerful devotional anchor, but do not abandon common sense in its pursuit,” Chatterjee concludes.
