Gardener Training Scheme to Empower Citizens with Technical Skills – Dinesh Pratap Singh
The Uttar Pradesh government is taking concrete steps to promote employment generation and self-reliance in the horticulture sector. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Horticulture and Food Processing Department is organizing gardener training programs in the year 2025-26 under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission (National Horticulture Mission). This training is completely free with the aim of promoting nursery establishment and self-employment by acquiring skills in horticulture.
State Minister for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade, and Agricultural Exports, Dinesh Pratap Singh, stated that this training program is part of the government’s visionary policy to empower citizens by providing them with technical skills. He stated that there are immense self-employment opportunities in the horticulture and nursery sectors, which will be empowered through this training. He stated that the training period will be a minimum of 390 hours (approximately 50 days). During the training, the department will provide accommodation, food, training materials, and one-time travel expenses to the candidates.
The Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, Basti, has been assigned the responsibility of training the Basti, Gorakhpur, and Azamgarh divisions: the Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, Malihabad, Lucknow, the Ayodhya, Bareilly and Devipatan divisions: the Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, Khusrubag, Prayagraj, the Prayagraj, Mirzapur and Chitrakoot divisions: the Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, Saharanpur, the Saharanpur, Moradabad and Meerut divisions; the Superintendent of State Gardens, Alambagh, Lucknow, the Lucknow, Jhansi, and Varanasi divisions and the Center of Excellence for Vegetables, Kannauj, the Kanpur, Agra and Aligarh divisions. Additionally, citizens from any district will be eligible to receive training by completing the registration process at their nearest center. All centers will schedule the training program dates.
Director of Horticulture and Food Processing, Dr. Bhanu Prakash Ram, stated that under the training program, the Farmers Training Center, State Park, Alambagh, Lucknow, has been assigned the target of training gardeners in Jhansi, Lucknow and Varanasi divisions. He stated that to receive training at this center, candidates must be between 18 and 40 years of age on July 1, 2025, and must have completed at least Class 5. Self-attested photocopies of educational certificates, Aadhaar card, caste certificate, and residence certificate are mandatory with the application form. Applications can be submitted in person at the Farmers Training Center, State Park, Alambagh, Lucknow, until 5:00 pm on November 10, 2025. Selection will be based on a first-come, first-served basis.
