Sachin Malik: A Detailed discussion was held on Strengthening last-mile connectivity in metro cities during a Project Monitoring Meeting Chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed officials to make comprehensive improvements in last-mile connectivity to make metro services more effective and accessible to the Public. He said that While acquiring land for new metro Stations, future requirements Should also be considered and additional land Should be acquired for Parking facilities. He also asked Officials to Explore the Possibility of developing underground Parking near metro Stations.
He further instructed that city buses Should not operate Parallel to metro routes, so that the utility and ridership of metro services can Increase.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the need to create Greater Public awareness about metro services. He said People Should be informed that metro travel is not only safe but also beneficial for health and the Environment.
Officials were also directed to Prepare Proposals for developing Parking areas on vacant Plots near metro Stations under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode. In addition, arrangements Should be made for app-based bicycle and E-bicycle rental services near metro Stations to Provide commuters with convenient and eco-friendly transport options.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Urban Development P. Guruprasad, Principal Secretary, Planning Alok Kumar, Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar, along with Other Senior Officials.
