Gautam Buddh Nagar: In view of the daily forecast and weather alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Government of India, District Disaster Expert Omkar Chaturvedi, under the directions of the Additional District Magistrate (Finance/Revenue), has appealed to the General Public to remain especially alert and Cautious.
He informed that according to the Meteorological Department, due to the active western disturbance, there is a Possibility of Significant weather Changes across the State from May 28 to May 31, 2026. During this Period, temperatures may fall by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius and many areas of the State are likely to experience Strong Storms, thunderstorms, hailstorms and widespread Rainfall.
He further Stated that the weather impact is expected to be most severe on May 29, 2026. During this time, winds may blow at speeds of 80 to 90 Kilometers Per hour, While gusts could reach up to 100 kilometers Per hour. In view of the anticipated severe weather conditions, it is extremely important to adopt all necessary Precautions to Prevent loss of life, livestock and Property Damage.
The District Disaster Expert informed that Gautam Buddh Nagar district falls under the Orange Zone. Therefore, citizens are advised to download the “Damini App” and “Sachet App” developed by IMD on their mobile Phones to receive timely alerts regarding Storms, lightning and severe weather conditions. He said that timely warnings would help People move to safe locations and Protect themselves and their families.
He advised People not to take Shelter under trees, near mobile towers or Close to tall buildings during bad weather. Children Should not be allowed to Play in open areas, and People Should avoid touching iron windows, doors, hand Pumps and electrical appliances. The use of metal umbrellas Should also be avoided and People Should refrain from traveling in open vehicles. During lightning, one Should not lie down on the ground and Should Stay away from Ponds, rivers and Swimming Activities.
He further Stated that during severe weather, People Should immediately take Shelter in a concrete building. If no safe Place is available nearby, they Should crouch down on their knees with both ears covered and feet together. Electrical appliances at home Should be unplugged and People working in fields Should immediately move to a safe and dry Place. People are also advised to Stay away from high-tension wires, electric Poles, Ponds and barbed Wires.
The District Disaster Expert explained that the “Damini App” sends lightning alerts for areas within a range of approximately 20 to 40 kilometers, while the “Sachet App” Provides weather-related information, disaster advisories and Alerts.
He appealed to all residents of the district to follow the daily forecasts and weather alerts issued by IMD and remain alert to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of Others.
