Sachin Malik: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is on an official visit to Mongolia as Part of his two-nation tour, Which also includes the South Korea. Upon his arrival in Ulaanbaatar, he was Welcomed by Mongolia State Secretary, Munkhtushig Ilkhanajav.
During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar held bilateral talks with Battsetseg Batmunkh, reviewing all aspects of India-Mongolia cooperation. The discussions focused on Progress in development Projects, capacity building, education, culture, Security cooperation and collaboration at multilateral Forums.
Following the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar said, “Today discussions reviewed every aspect of our bilateral cooperation, including our development Partnership. The Mongolia Oil Refinery remains our flagship Project, alongside an ICT Centre, a School and several Quick Impact Projects. We also discussed capacity building, technology, economic and trade Cooperation, Supply Chain resilience, education, Culture, defence, Security and Energy.”
Later, the External Affairs Minister called on Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and conveyed Greetings on behalf of Droupadi Murmu and Narendra Modi. In a Post on X, Dr. Jaishankar noted that President Khurelsukh visit to India last Year had Given fresh momentum to the Strategic Partnership. He expressed appreciation for the President Guidance in advancing cooperation across multiple sectors and agreed with his view that “the Greatest friendship is a spiritual Friendship.”
As Part of his engagements in Ulaanbaatar, Dr. Jaishankar also met Khamba Nomun Khan Geshe Lharampa D. Javzandorj, the Chief Abbot of the Gandan Monastery and Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan. These meetings underscored the Strong cultural, spiritual, and Parliamentary ties between the two Countries.
Dr. Jaishankar, accompanied by Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh and Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Gongor Damdinyam, visited the construction site of the Mongolia Oil Refinery Project. He interacted with Indian and Mongolian workers involved in the Project and thanked them for their dedication and commitment to completing one of the most Significant Pillars of the India-Mongolia development Partnership despite Challenging Conditions.
The visit reflects the Growing momentum in India-Mongolia relations and reaffirms the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in Strategic, economic, cultural and People-to-People Exchanges.
