The Urban Development and Energy Minister of Uttar Pradesh, A.K. Sharma, held a review Meeting today at Sangam Auditorium in Lucknow with the Chairman and Managing Director of UPPCL and the Managing Directors of all DISCOM in the State to assess Preparations for ensuring uninterrupted and quality Power supply during the upcoming summer Season.
During the Meeting, Minister Sharma Stated that the Primary objective of the Power system is to Provide better services to consumers. “The Public is supreme in the system,” he emphasized, directing all officials to Prioritize consumer interests and ensure Prompt, transparent and satisfactory resolution of Complaints.
Expressing concern over issues related to smart meters, the minister instructed officials to adopt concrete and effective Strategies to resolve them. He said there Should be no confusion or misunderstanding among consumers regarding smart meters. For this, a large-scale awareness campaign Should be conducted to educate consumers about the benefits, utility and functioning of Smart Meters.
The Minister also directed that consumers Should be regularly informed to maintain Sufficient balance in their Smart meters and be notified in advance before their balance runs out. He Clarified that if a consumer balance is exhausted during nighttime, their Electricity connection will not be disconnected at night. Similarly, no disconnection will take Place on holidays to avoid inconvenience to Consumers.
To Ensure quick and effective resolution of smart meter-related complaints, Minister Sharma instructed the Establishment of Separate counters so that consumers can get their issues resolved Promptly without unnecessary hassle. He also directed officials to further Strengthen and make the grievance redressal system more responsive.
Emphasizing the need to Strengthen the Power supply system, the minister Stressed that capacity enhancement works Should be completed on a Priority basis. He said that transformers, feeders and other technical infrastructure must be reinforced in time to ensure uninterrupted supply despite increased demand during Summer.
He also instructed continuous monitoring at the field level, fixing accountability and ensuring active Participation of officials. He warned that Strict action would be taken in case of negligence at any level.
The Meeting was attended by UPPCL Chairman Ashish Goyal, Managing Director Pankaj Kumar, and Senior Officials along with Managing Directors of all DISCOM.
