Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is Continuously taking Proactive Steps for effective waste management in the city. Smart transfer stations are being operated across all five zones to ensure Proper segregation and disposal of waste. Efforts are being made to encourage citizens to adopt the habit of separating wet and dry waste, alongside awareness campaigns being conducted by the Corporation.
Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik held a special meeting with the health department team to review waste segregation and disposal Processes. The meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Senior In-charge Health) Avnindra Kumar, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Mithilesh, sanitation and food inspectors from all zones and the SBM team. Representatives from various social organizations were also Present.
Discussions focused on strengthening awareness campaigns to ensure that every household Practices waste segregation by using separate bins for wet and dry waste. Teams were instructed to run campaigns with the support of sanitation workers and to collaborate with ward councillors to spread awareness. Directions were also issued to ensure timely door-to-door waste collection in every Ward.
The Municipal Health Officer informed that continuous efforts are being made to manage and segregate the city waste through Plants and garbage Processing facilities equipped with modern machinery. Waste segregation is ongoing at facilities in Sahani and the Rate Mandi garbage factory. In Vijay Nagar, operations are being carried out through the Akbarpur Baharampur transfer station, in Mohan Nagar, through the Rajendra Nagar transfer station, in Kavi Nagar zone, through the Govindpuram smart transfer station; and in Vasundhara zone, through the Sahibabad garbage Processing site.
Citizens are being motivated to keep separate bins at home for wet and dry waste. The Municipal Commissioner also directed teams to intensify awareness campaigns and maintain a strong focus on waste segregation. Daily waste disposal operations are being carried out, and Plans are underway to establish additional smart transfer Stations based on future Requirements.
Social organizations and the SBM team have been asked to accelerate ongoing campaigns. The corporation is also receiving support from rag Pickers in waste segregation. High-rise societies are already Providing segregated waste, which has been appreciated. Efforts are being made to ensure that the habit of separating waste becomes common in all Wards.
The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to the residents of Ghaziabad to actively Participate in Keeping the City Clean. The municipal corporation is also Providing necessary training to its teams to strengthen sanitation Efforts.
