Sachin Malik: The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has taken a major step to realize Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath resolve to make Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy. The “Skill Connect Cell” has been established to provide trained workforce to large industries investing in the state, as per their needs. To ensure the success of large investments coming into the state, it is essential that industries receive timely skilled manpower. To this end, the “Skill Connect Cell” has been established to establish effective coordination between Invest UP and the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission.
Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, stated that the SpeedUp-PMU has been integrated into the Mission to accelerate the training and employment process. This PMU will now coordinate with investors in real-time through the “Skill Connect Cell.”
The “Skill Connect Cell” will not only be an administrative unit, but its work will bring about change on the ground. The cell Primary function will be to update the status of ongoing projects through real-time tracking and daily coordination with Invest UP. It will also be responsible for maintaining a database of investment flows into each district and the number of youth needed in each sector (such as automobile, IT, textile, ETC.). The cell will also maintain constant contact with investors’ HR departments and ensure employment for youth trained through training partners (TP/PIA) but currently unemployed, according to the needs of the relevant industries.
Pulkit Khare Mission Director of the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, stated that the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission is currently training youth in approximately 35 sectors and over 1,300 job roles. With the activation of the “Skill Connect Cell,” the gap between training and industry demand will be bridged, enabling youth from Uttar Pradesh to find jobs in large industries within their own districts. This order has been implemented with immediate effect. The establishment of the “Skill Connect Cell” will not only promote ease of doing business in the state but will also play a key role in making Uttar Pradesh a “Skill Hub.”
To Strengthen Coordination, Single Point of Contact (SPOC) have been designated by both departments. Omair Shahid will serve as the Team Leader SPOC from Invest UP. Dr. Pavitra Tandon, Assistant Director, will chair the cell from the Skill Development Mission. Atul Kumar Singh has been designated as the Mission SPOC. Dhananjay Kumar Dwivedi and Jyoti Srivastava have also been added to the team to assist Him.
