New Delhi : The Delhi Police Crime Branch has registered two separate FIRs against Haryana’s Al-Falah University, which is at the centre of the storm after links emerged between the institution and the Red Fort bomber. It adds to the list of woes for the Faridabad-based institution, whose membership has already been revoked by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

While one FIR pertains to allegations of cheating, the second has been lodged under sections related to forgery. The FIRs came following a complaint by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Moreover, the Delhi Police has issued a notice to Al-Falah University and has sought several documents as part of its probe into the “white collar” terror module that was busted last week. The module is believed to have been supported by the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.THE TERROR LINK
On November 9, around 2,900 kilograms of IED-making material were seized from the rented premises of a doctor, Muzammil Shakeel, who worked at the university.

Another employee of Al-Falah, Dr Shaheen Shahid, who was tasked with setting up the women’s wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed in India, was also arrested after a rifle and live cartridges were recovered from her car.

A day after Dr Muzammil’s arrest, another doctor who is part of the terror module, Dr Umar Nabi, carried out the blast near the Red Fort, killing 13 people and injuring 21 others.

Over the course of the week, two more doctors of Al-Falah and a cleric of the mosque inside the university premises have been detained over their links to Dr Umar.

NO END TO TROUBLES FOR AL-FALAH
It has also brought increased scrutiny of the university and its financial transactions, which are being probed by the ED.

On Thursday, NAAC, an autonomous body under the Union Education Ministry, issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah for displaying a false accreditation claim on its website. Later, the university authorities took down the website.

The NAAC said the ‘Grade A’ accreditation displayed on the website was wrong and misleading. In fact, accreditation of two institutions of the university had exprired way back.

Moreover, the ED has also started an investigation into the financial transactions of the university and doctors and staff allegedly involved in the Delhi blast case.
