New Delhi: Yash starrer Toxic is building considerable momentum before its theatrical release, with advance ticket sales showing strong interest across multiple markets. The Geetu Mohandas directorial has already sold around 2.6 lakh tickets, generating an estimated Rs 19.44 crore when blocked seats are included.
Its opening-day advance gross from India currently stands at Rs 11.74 crore, with Karnataka emerging as the biggest contributor. The film is also attracting attention for its adult certification in India and the UK ahead of its August 26 release.
Kannada version leads advance ticket sales
The Kannada version is currently driving Toxic’s advance sales, contributing an estimated Rs 7.72 crore. The Hindi version has added around Rs 3.86 crore, while the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions account for the remaining amount.
The film has generated approximately Rs 11.74 crore in India gross through opening-day advance bookings. When blocked seats are included, the total advance collection stands at around Rs 19.44 crore, stated Sacnilk.
The film has sold more than 2.6 lakh tickets so far, indicating strong demand even before it reaches theatres.
Karnataka dominates opening-day bookings
Yash’s home state is currently the biggest market for Toxic. Karnataka has contributed an estimated Rs 7.72 crore to the film’s advance gross, with around 1.6 lakh tickets already sold.
Maharashtra ranks second, recording an estimated gross of around Rs 1.81 crore, including blocked seats. Delhi follows with approximately Rs 1.19 crore.
The figures suggest that the film is attracting strong interest beyond its core Kannada market, with the Hindi-speaking regions also contributing significantly to its pre-release business.
Toxic receives adult certification
The film’s certification has added another talking point ahead of its release. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has awarded Toxic an ‘A’ certificate, restricting theatrical admission in India to adult audiences.
In the UK, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has given the film an 18 rating. Its content warnings reportedly include threats, drugs, sexual violence and self-harm, with violence, sex and injury detail receiving the highest content ratings.
Yash leads Geetu Mohandas directorial
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash in the lead role. Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth are also part of the cast.
The action thriller is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 26, with its advance booking performance setting up considerable expectations for its opening-day business.
