NEW DELHI : The interest rate for deposits in small savings schemes like PPF, Sukanya Saving Scheme and other post office deposits will remain the same for the next quarter starting from October 1, as the government on Wednesday kept the interest rates unchanged for the tenth straight quarter.
“The rates of interest on various Small Savings Schemes for the third quarter of FY 2026-27, starting from October 1, 2026, and ending on December 30, 2026, shall remain unchanged from those notified for the second quarter (July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026) of FY 2026-27,” the Finance Ministry said in a notification.

Thus, interest rates on small savings schemes, mainly operated by post offices and banks, remained unchanged for the tenth consecutive quarter. The last adjustment to interest rates on some schemes was made in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2023-24.
