Lucknow: During his visit to Prayagraj, Urban Development and Energy Minister A. K. Sharma held a review meeting at the Circuit House Auditorium regarding preparations for the upcoming Magh Mela 2025.
He directed the officials of the Urban Development and Energy Departments to complete all arrangements within a fixed timeline, in an organized and public-friendly manner.
Public representatives honored Minister A. K. Sharma for the remarkable contribution of the Urban Development and Energy Department in successfully organizing Maha Kumbh 2025. They highly appreciated the minister leadership, especially the department efforts in maintaining excellent cleanliness arrangements and uninterrupted power supply during the event.
Minister Sharma instructed officials to ensure that the same high standards of cleanliness and efficiency achieved during the Maha Kumbh are also maintained in the Magh Mela preparations.
On this occasion, he motivated sanitation workers and Mission Shakti volunteers, acknowledging their dedication and service spirit which, he said, has made Prayagraj a symbol of cleanliness and devotion.
Public representatives requested Minister Sharma to implement the “One Time Settlement (OTS) system” in the municipal corporation to facilitate easy payment of house tax by citizens.
While reviewing the Energy Department, Minister Sharma directed the Chief Engineer to strengthen the electricity system in the Yamuna-paar region.
He instructed that open electric junction boxes be immediately and safely covered to ensure public safety. Expressing a firm stand, he said that electricity personnel who unnecessarily harass small consumers or disconnect their power supply without valid reasons must be suspended immediately.
He also informed that around ₹1000 crore has been provided by the Urban Development Department to the Energy Department for works related to newly expanded urban areas and directed that the funds be utilized properly and transparently.
Minister Sharma emphasized that Magh Mela represents the faith, devotion and cleanliness identity of Uttar Pradesh.
He said, “All arrangements should be made in such a way that devotees experience convenience and Prayagraj once again emerges as an ideal model of cleanliness and service.”
The meeting was attended by Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Keservani, MLA Phaphamau Guru Prasad Maurya, MLC Surendra Chaudhary, other public representatives and officials from various concerned departments.
