Sachin Malik Gautam Buddh Nagar: In compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Transport Department of Gautam Buddh Nagar has launched an intensive enforcement drive against End-of-Life (EOL) Vehicles in the district. As Part of the campaign, more than 650 vehicles found violating the applicable regulations have been seized and handed over to Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSF), Where the vehicles are being scrapped as Per the Prescribed Procedure.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey said that, in view of Preventing air Pollution and Protecting the environment in Delhi-NCR, the operation of diesel vehicles more than 10 Years old and Petrol vehicles more than 15 Years old is Prohibited. Operating such vehicles on roads or Parking them in Public Places constitutes a violation of the rules. Accordingly, enforcement teams of the Transport Department are conducting continuous Checking and enforcement operations across the District.
Intensive Checking Drive Conducted on Major Roads and Intersections
Various enforcement teams of the Transport Department conducted special Checking drives at major intersections, expressways and internal roads across the district. During the campaign, more than 650 cars, SUV and commercial vehicles found violating the Prescribed norms were seized. The seized Vehicles have been handed over to authorised RVSF centres, Where the Scrapping Process is being carried out in accordance with the Prescribed Rules.
Vehicle Owners Advised Not to Operate Prohibited Vehicles
The Transport Department has appealed to vehicle owners that if they Possess a diesel vehicle more than 10 Years old or a Petrol vehicle more than 15 Years old, they Should not operate it on Public roads and Should also avoid Parking such vehicles in Public Places or along roadsides. Enforcement action will be taken against such vehicles in accordance with the Rules.
COD Benefits for Vehicles Handed Over to RVSF
The department Stated that vehicle owners Whose vehicles are handed over to RVSF will be entitled to the Scrap value as Per the applicable rules. In addition, the vehicle owner will receive a Certificate of Deposit (COD). As Per the applicable Provisions, the COD can be used While Purchasing a new vehicle to avail of a road tax concession and additional benefits offered by the vehicle Manufacturer.
NOC Option for Vehicles Approaching the Age Limit
Vehicle owners Whose vehicles are nearing the Prescribed age limit may obtain the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Transport Department in advance and transfer Such vehicles to States or districts Where the relevant restrictions are not applicable. Vehicle owners will have to follow the Prescribed rules and Procedure for this Purpose.
The Transport Department has Clarified that its enforcement campaign will continue across the district to Prevent air Pollution, Protect the environment and ensure effective compliance with the regulations. Vehicles that are Prohibited or have completed their Prescribed age limit will face action as Per the rules if found operating on Public Roads.
