NEW DELHI : Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s key spinner in the third T20I against the West Indies on Sunday, October 11. The match will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, where the left-arm wrist-spinner will have a chance to achieve a major milestone in his T20I career.
Kuldeep needs just two wickets to complete 100 wickets in T20 internationals. If he reaches the landmark in Sunday’s match, he will become the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in the format, breaking the record currently held by Arshdeep Singh.
The spinner picked up one wicket in the second T20I in Ranchi on Friday, dismissing Sherfane Rutherford. He now has 98 wickets from 56 T20I matches for India.
Kuldeep Yadav Closing In On 100 T20I Wickets
Kuldeep made his T20I debut against the West Indies in Kingston on July 9, 2017. Since then, he has established himself as one of India’s leading wicket-taking options in the shortest format.
With 98 wickets in 56 matches, he is currently India’s fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20Is. Arshdeep Singh leads the list with 141 wickets, followed by Jasprit Bumrah with 126.
Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel occupy the third and fourth positions, with 114 and 111 wickets, respectively.
Arshdeep Singh Holds The Record For India
Arshdeep Singh is currently the fastest Indian bowler to reach 100 wickets in T20Is. The left-arm pacer achieved the milestone in his 64th match against Oman in Abu Dhabi on September 19, 2025.
Jasprit Bumrah is second on the list, having taken his 100th T20I wicket in his 81st match. Axar Patel reached the landmark in his 98th appearance.
Kuldeep has an opportunity to move ahead of all three. However, he must take at least two wickets against the West Indies on Sunday to set the new Indian record. If he misses out, he will have the remaining two matches of the series to reach the milestone.
Rashid Khan Holds The World Record
While Kuldeep is chasing the Indian record, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan holds the overall record for the fastest 100 wickets in men’s T20Is.
Rashid reached the milestone in just 53 matches. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane is second, having achieved the feat in 54 matches, while Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga needed 63 matches.
Arshdeep Singh is next on the list, having taken 100 wickets in 64 matches.
Kuldeep Yadav’s Record Against West Indies
Kuldeep has enjoyed considerable success against the West Indies in T20Is. He has taken 20 wickets in 11 matches against them, making him India’s leading wicket-taker against the Caribbean side in the format.
Arshdeep Singh is second among Indian bowlers, with 15 wickets in 13 matches. Bhuvneshwar Kumar follows with 13 wickets in 18 appearances.
Kuldeep’s record against the West Indies makes him an important player for India heading into the third T20I. With the 100-wicket milestone within reach, he will look to make the most of the opportunity in Indore.
