Sachin Malik: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, While conducting a detailed review on Tuesday of the departments under the Agriculture Production Commissioner Branch, Stated that in view of weather uncertainty and Changing rainfall Patterns, the State must remain Prepared for every Situation.

The Chief Minister Stated, “Agriculture is the foundation of the State economy. In such a Situation, Providing farmers with timely Seeds, fertilizers, Irrigation water, Electricity Supply, crop loans and scientific advice Should remain among the Government highest Priorities.” 

He directed all District Magistrates and concerned departments to maintain advance Preparedness in accordance with local Conditions.

It was also informed in the meeting that a target of 110.65 lakh hectares coverage has been fixed for Kharif 2026, While Kharif crops had been sown in 106.60 lakh hectares during 2025. This Year, the target for Paddy Production has been fixed at 224.25 lakh metric tonnes and the target for total Kharif Production has been set at 302.62 lakh metric tonnes. As of June 22, sowing has been completed in 5.88 lakh hectares and Paddy nursery coverage has been achieved in 4.06 lakh Hectares.

The Chief Minister directed, “The Kharif campaign be conducted in mission mode and that all essential resources be made available to farmers on time.”

Reviewing Preparations in view of Possible deficient rainfall or drought conditions, it was informed that the Agriculture Department has Prepared contingency Plans for different Situations. If required, coverage under urad, moong, Jowar, bajra, sesame and other Short-duration crops will be increased. Technical agricultural advisories are being Provided to farmers through message Services, Akashvani, Doordarshan and other Mediums.

The Chief Minister directed that maximum coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana be ensured and that loans be made available to the maximum number of farmers through the Kisan Credit Card.

During the review of seed availability, it was informed that a target of distribution of 2.29 lakh Quintals of seeds on subsidy has been fixed for Kharif 2026. Against this, 1.77 lakh Quintals of seeds have already been made available and more than 1.12 lakh Quintals have been Distributed.

The Chief Minister directed that adequate availability of Quality seeds be ensured in every district and that farmers Should not face any Inconvenience.

Reviewing the availability and distribution system of fertilizers, the Chief Minister directed that timely supply be ensured. He added, fertilizer availability Should be monitored regularly and Strict action Should be taken on any complaint regarding artificial Shortage or black Marketing.

During the review of the Horticulture Department, it was informed that under the drought management Strategy, 15 crore vegetable saplings are being made available through 125 hi-tech nurseries. The Chief Minister directed the Irrigation and Minor Irrigation Departments to ensure effective operation of the canal system and supply irrigation water up to the tail end. Assessment of irrigation resources and agricultural requirements should be carried out at every block and tehsil level. Areas with limited irrigation Should be identified and special action Plans should be Prepared.

He Stated, “Drinking water Should be accorded the highest Priority in the utilization of available water Resources.”

During the review of the Animal Husbandry Department, the Chief Minister directed, “Adequate arrangements for fodder, water and medical care for animals be ensured in the event of a Possible Drought.” 

It was also informed in the meeting that more than 10 lakh bovines are Protected in the State. Under the straw collection campaign, 136.01 lakh Quintals of straw have been collected against the target of 131.40 lakh Quintals, which is 103 percent of the target. Vaccination campaigns for animals are being conducted continuously and round-the-Clock services are being Provided through mobile veterinary units.

The Chief Minister directed regular monitoring of fodder storage and animal health Services.

During the review of the Panchayati Raj Department, the Chief Minister directed, “Conservation of drinking water sources, maintenance of hand Pumps, Rejuvenation of Ponds and Public awareness Programmes Should be carried out as a campaign at the Gram Panchayat level.”

He Stated, water conservation should be transformed into a mass movement and Participation of every citizen Should be Ensured.
