Sachin Malik: The 52nd meeting of the Management Committee of the Uttar Pradesh Soldiers Rehabilitation Fund was held at Jan Bhavan Lucknow under the Chairmanship of Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Officer on Special Duty to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chairperson of the Fund, Anandiben Patel. Several important Proposals concerning the welfare of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents were discussed and approved.
The committee reviewed the Annual Educational Assistance Grant Scheme and directed that courses approved under the Uttar Pradesh Police and Armed Forces Assistance Institute Lucknow be adopted. It also instructed that new courses introduced by universities under the National Education Policy (NEP) be included in the Scheme.
The meeting emphasized that if land belonging to the Soldiers Rehabilitation Fund is allotted to any department or institution, adequate compensation Should be ensured to safeguard the Fund resources and Interests.
The Proposal to revise the monthly rent of 49 Fund-owned Shops located in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh based on the Cost Inflation Index announced annually by the Income Tax Department was approved. The committee also directed that dependents of Soldiers martyred in war or military operations, as well as disabled soldiers, be Given Priority under various welfare Schemes.
The committee further discussed and approved the budget for the financial Year 2026–27, reviewed the Fund Headquarters’ Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet for the financial Year 2024–25, and considered the Proposal to nominate the Special Secretary, Department of Soldiers Welfare Government of Uttar Pradesh, as a member of the Budget Sub-Committee.
In addition, discussions were held on renaming three major Schemes operated by the Fund. Committee members and officials also Shared suggestions to make welfare Schemes for Soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their dependents more Effective.
