Sachin Malik: Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident of a massive fire in the Slum area of Vikas Nagar in Lucknow, a delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), under the directions of senior Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, visited the site on Thursday. The delegation met the affected families and assessed the situation following the devastating fire.
In this incident, hundreds of homes were reduced to ashes, thousands of People were rendered homeless and several innocent lives, including Children, were lost. The Party termed the incident extremely Painful and demanded immediate relief, compensation and rehabilitation from the Government.
Earlier, MP Sanjay Singh, through a Post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, said that the fire incident in the Vikas Nagar Slum area of Lucknow is extremely tragic and distressing. He expressed deep condolences to the families who lost their homes, hard-earned savings and sources of livelihood in the disaster. He stated that this is not just the loss of houses, but also the end of dreams and hopes that these families had built over years of hard work. He urged the government to Provide immediate relief materials and take concrete steps for rehabilitation and employment so that the victims can rebuild their lives.
During the visit, Ayodhya region President Vinay Patel, who was leading the AAP delegation, stated that the fire broke out around 5:30 PM on Wednesday, but fire brigade vehicles arrived nearly two hours later. By then, around 400 houses had already been destroyed. He said that People wandered the entire night without food and water, with no Place left to stay. Their belongings, including gas Cylinders, utensils, bicycles and motorcycles, were Completely destroyed. He alleged that even after 24 hours, the government had not Provided even basic relief such as drinking water. Lucknow district President Iram Rizvi, who was Present at the site, said that a 6-month-old infant died in the fire and several other Children were injured and admitted to hospitals. She also alleged that the Police were attempting to remove the victims from the site, which she termed in humane.
She demanded that the government immediately Provide relief materials and ration, conduct a survey of all affected families, ensure Proper compensation and make arrangements to rehabilitate those who wish to resettle at the same location.
The Aam Aadmi Party warned the government that mere statements will not suffice. It emphasized the need for immediate relief, transparent compensation and a concrete long-term rehabilitation lan to Prevent such incidents in the future.
The AAP delegation that visited the site included Ayodhya region President Vinay Patel, district President Iram Rizvi, state vice President Manoj Mishra, auto cell state President Preetpal Saluja, state secretary Preetesh Chaudhary, state secretary Abhishek Singh, Gyan Singh Kushwaha and P.K. Bajpai.
