New Delhi: Ajay Devgn has registered the biggest opening day of his career with Drishyam 3: The Conclusion. The thriller, which arrived in cinemas on Friday, October 2, reportedly collected Rs 66.75 crore net in India on its first day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film’s opening-day performance came across 15,759 shows nationwide. Its gross earnings in India stood at Rs 80.10 crore, while the net collection was reported at Rs 66.75 crore.
The third instalment in the franchise also recorded a strong start outside India. Its overseas gross stood at Rs 15 crore, taking the film’s worldwide gross collection to Rs 95.10 crore after day one.
The opening figure gives Devgn a new career benchmark, with Drishyam 3 becoming his highest-grossing film on its first day.
Drishyam 3 story
The new film picks up Vijay Salgaonkar’s story after the events of Drishyam 2. Vijay had managed to shield his family once again in the previous film, even after investigators recovered evidence that could have changed the case against them.
Drishyam 3 takes the story forward with Vijay facing fresh challenges as he continues trying to keep his family safe and his secrets protected. The stakes are higher as the franchise moves towards the conclusion of his story.
The Hindi film also follows a different narrative path from Mohanlal’s Malayalam Drishyam 3. While both belong to the same franchise, the Hindi version is not a direct remake of the Malayalam third instalment. Instead, the Hindi franchise is taking its own route towards bringing Vijay Salgaonkar’s journey to an end.
