New Delhi : Airtel has announced the launch of its new Priority Postpaid service in India. The company says the service is designed to offer users a more stable and consistent network experience, especially during situations where network traffic is high. The newly launched offering uses advanced 5G slicing technology, which Airtel claims can help deliver uninterrupted connectivity for users who rely heavily on mobile internet for work, entertainment, video streaming or online collaboration.

What is Airtel’s new Priority service?
According to Airtel, the company has upgraded its 5G network infrastructure with slicing technology to support the rollout of the new service.

In simple terms, network slicing is a technique which divides a single shared physical network into multiple, independent virtual networks. It allows telecom operators to manage network capacity more efficiently. Airtel says this technology creates additional network capacity and helps the company allocate it intelligently to Priority customers.

This means users on Airtel Priority Postpaid plans are expected to get a more dependable and stable network experience, even when mobile traffic demand is high in crowded areas or during peak usage hours.

The company says the technology dynamically segments network capacity in real time to improve service quality for postpaid users.

Technology already used globally
While the technology is new to India, Airtel says network slicing is already being used in countries such as the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

With this launch, Airtel claims it has become the first telecom company in India to introduce such a service for customers.

Who can use Airtel Priority Postpaid?
Airtel says the Priority service is available to customers across all of its postpaid plans.

Existing Airtel postpaid users will automatically start receiving the benefits without needing to switch plans manually.

Meanwhile, prepaid users or customers who want to move to Airtel Priority Postpaid can upgrade through the Airtel app or by visiting an Airtel store.

Which phones support the service?
Customers can access the new Priority service on smartphones that support 5G standalone (5G SA) technology and have the latest software updates installed.

For users whose devices still require an upgrade, Airtel says pending updates will appear in the Settings section of the smartphone.

Customers can also check whether their devices are compatible with Airtel Priority services directly through the Airtel app.
