Speeding up public welfare schemes is the government priority: Minister A.K Sharma
Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K Sharma conducted a detailed review of the physical progress of various schemes of the Urban Development Department at the Sangam Auditorium in Lucknow.
During the meeting, Minister Sharma stated clearly that schemes related to urban development are a top priority of the government and that any kind of negligence or delay will not be tolerated. While reviewing the progress of key schemes such as the Smart City Mission, Gaushala (cow shelters), Dog Shelters, Aspirational Cities Scheme, Global City Development Scheme, Chief Minister Urban Creation Scheme, CM Grid Scheme, Smart Municipality, Pandit Deendayal Urban Development Scheme and other important projects, he directed officials to accelerate the pace of work and ensure that tangible results are visible on the Ground.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the comparatively slow progress of housing schemes, the minister instructed concerned officials to immediately expedite the work. He emphasized that housing schemes are directly connected to the common citizens and any delay in their implementation goes against Public Interest.
He also directed that the CM Grid Scheme be effectively implemented up to the municipal level, stating that this would help strengthen urban infrastructure. Minister Sharma further instructed that files related to essential and important works should not be kept pending unnecessarily. He said that speeding up the decision-making process and ensuring timely delivery of benefits to the public is the government highest Priority.
During the meeting, instructions were also issued to reallocate funds for works related to drainage systems, lakes, ponds, water bodies, Vandans (Public facilities) and cremation Grounds.
The minister also reviewed the status of cadre review and disposal of departmental proceedings and directed that swift action be ensured in these matters as well.
The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department P. Guru Prasad, Secretary/Director of Urban Local Bodies Anuj Jha, Secretary/MD of Jal Nigam Ravindra Kumar Pratham, Special Secretary SUDA/JMD Jal Nigam Praveen Lakshyakar, Special Secretary Satyaprakash Patel, Special Secretary Mahendra Bahadur Singh along with other senior officials of the Department.
