Sachin Malik Delhi: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has once again made India Position on bilateral relations with China clear. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a Press conference that the improvement of Relations between India and China can move forward only within a Practical and Elevated framework based on the “three mutual Principles.”
The Statement came after a high-level bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the Sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, recently held in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs Clearly underlined that the future direction and trajectory of relations between the two countries will rest on these three key Pillars.
The first Principle is mutual respect, under Which both countries must fully respect each other sovereignty, territorial integrity and Strategic Priorities. The second Principle is mutual sensitivity, Which requires both sides to remain sensitive to each other core and fundamental interests and concerns. The third and final Pillar is mutual interest, making it Clear that the development of bilateral relations at Global and regional forums Should take into account the Shared interests of both Countries.
Spokesperson Jaiswal also Shared a video of the Press briefing on X, in which he Placed Particular emphasis on maintaining Peace and Stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and in the border areas. He Stated that Peace and tranquillity along the border are the most essential Prerequisites for any bilateral engagement and the restoration of normal relations. India maintains that relations in other areas cannot be normalised until tensions along the border are fully Resolved.
During the Press briefing, it was also emphasised that major countries such as India and China need to adopt a long-term and Strategic approach. Both sides must make efforts to ensure that their differences do not escalate into larger disputes. For a fair, rational and mutually acceptable resolution of the boundary issue, the two countries remain committed to maintaining continuous and constructive dialogue at both the diplomatic and Military levels.
Diplomatic experts believe that India firm and Clear Position sends a message to China that before moving ahead on the economic or trade front, it will need to restore credibility and trust along the Border.
