Gautam Buddh Nagar: The 9th National Nutrition Month is being observed from September 9 to October 8, 2026, at Anganwadi Centre Mubarakpur under the Child Development Project, Bisrakh, under the effective leadership of the District Programme Officer. This Year, the central theme of the month-long campaign is “Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility.” The initiative aims to transform Anganwadi centres into key community hubs for nutrition, Childcare and early Childhood development by Promoting Greater Public awareness and active community Participation.
During the first week of Nutrition Month, from September 9 to 15, a Series of activities were organised under the theme “Dietary Diversity and Adequate Protein.“ The activities focused on creating awareness about the importance of a balanced and nutritious diet, Particularly for Children, Pregnant women and lactating Mothers.
As Part of the Campaign, demonstrations of nutritious dishes Prepared using Millets, Pulses and Green vegetables were organised. A Nutrition fair was also held to Showcase healthy food options and encourage families to adopt diverse and Nutritious diets. Growth monitoring of Children was undertaken to assess their nutritional Status and Support timely intervention Wherever Required.
The use of Produce from the Nutrition Garden (Poshan Vatika) was also Promoted as an important component of the campaign. Parents and members of the local community were informed about the nutritional benefits of locally available food items and the importance of Providing Children with a balanced diet containing adequate Protein, vitamins, minerals and other essential Nutrients.
An Anganwadi Management Committee (AMC) meeting was organised during the Programme to discuss ways to improve the functioning of Anganwadi centres and Strengthen community Participation. Members discussed the importance of Collective responsibility in ensuring that Anganwadi centres effectively deliver Nutrition, health and early Childhood Development Services.
The Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) Menu Board was also displayed at the Anganwadi centre to Provide information about the supplementary nutrition being Provided to beneficiaries. In addition, A Cleanliness and Shramdaan (Voluntary community service) campaign was conducted with the objective of maintaining Clean, Hygienic and Child-friendly Anganwadi Centres.
The campaign also Placed special emphasis on the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). A Comprehensive awareness drive was conducted to ensure 100 Percent registration of Eligible Pregnant and lactating women under the Scheme. Information was Provided regarding the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Process and the instalments available under the Scheme, enabling beneficiaries to understand the Procedure and access the benefits to Which they are Entitled.
Anganwadi workers also Played an important role in spreading awareness among women, Parents and community members about nutrition, health, hygiene and Child development. They Provided essential information on healthy dietary Practices, Personal hygiene, Childcare and the overall development of Young Children.
The ongoing observance of National Nutrition Month is intended to Strengthen the role of Anganwadi centres as community-based Platforms for improving nutrition and Promoting healthy Childhoods. Through awareness activities, Growth monitoring, nutrition demonstrations, Cleanliness drives and community Participation, the Programme seeks to encourage families to take Greater responsibility for the health and Well-being of Children and Mothers.
With the theme “Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility,” the campaign underlines the message that improving nutrition and Child development is not solely the responsibility of Government institutions but requires the active Participation of Parents, Anganwadi workers and the wider community. The activities being conducted during the month are aimed at building a Stronger Culture of nutrition, health, hygiene and collective responsibility at the Grassroots level.
