Ajeet Chauhan Mathura: With the objective of effectively curbing Electricity theft, increasing Electricity revenue and reducing Power losses, a special Checking and enforcement drive was conducted across various areas of Mathura district on August 21, 2026. During the campaign, departmental teams thoroughly inspected Electricity connections, meters, service cables and Premises and Physically verified Irregularities In Electricity Usage.
Under the campaign, intensive Checking was conducted in the Jawahar Haat and Sadar areas under the leadership of Executive Engineer Rajiv Kumar, along with Assistant Engineer Shubham Agrawal, Junior Engineer Popinder and Junior Engineer (Raid) Pawan Soni. During the action, 10 cases of Electricity theft were detected, Involving a total Stolen load of 28 KW.
Similarly, a Joint team led by SDO Datia Manish Bansal, Vigilance In-Charge Arun Kumar and Junior Engineer (Vigilance) Sushil Kumar conducted a special Checking drive in Palai and Ading Villages. Eight cases of Electricity theft were detected, involving a total load of 25 KW.
Meanwhile, a campaign conducted in Farah Town and Ol Town areas under the leadership of SDO Shivam Gupta resulted in the detection of 14 cases of Electricity theft. A total Electricity load of 30 KW was found to be involved in these Cases.
In addition, special Checking drives were conducted in Chahar, Sonkheda, Sakatpur and other identified areas under the leadership of concerned officers and employees. The teams thoroughly inspected Electricity meters, service cables, Power lines and Premises.
During the day-long special campaign, FIR were registered in a total of 55 cases of Electricity theft under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003. A total Electricity load of 132 KW was found to be involved in Electricity theft in these cases. During the campaign, consumers were also caught running air conditioners using Stolen Electricity in 15 Cases.
The department is continuously conducting special enforcement drives by identifying areas vulnerable to Electricity theft and feeders with high losses. The objective of these campaigns is to effectively control Power theft, reduce line losses, increase Electricity revenue and ensure better and uninterrupted Power supply to honest Consumers.
The Electricity Department has appealed to the Public to use Electricity only through valid Electricity connections and to consume Power Strictly according to the sanctioned load. In case of Electricity theft or any other irregularity, Strict legal action will be taken against those concerned under the Electricity Act and applicable Rules.
The department Clarified that special Checking and enforcement drives against Electricity theft will continue in the future as Well.
