Chief Secretary Holds Review Meeting with All Officials Through Video Conferencing

Sachin Malik: A review meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal through video Conferencing with all Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates across the State. The meeting reviewed several important issues, including the availability and distribution of fertilizers during the Kharif season, wetland notification, Ramsar Sites and the flood Situation along with relief and rescue Operations.

While reviewing the availability and distribution of fertilizers during the Kharif season, the Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure adequate Stocks of fertilizers at all cooperative societies and distribution centres. Special reviews Should be conducted for societies with zero or low Stocks and supplies Should be arranged immediately Wherever Required.

He directed that an officer not below the rank of Additional District Magistrate or Chief Development Officer be appointed as the nodal officer in every district. To ensure that farmers in flood-affected areas face no difficulty in Obtaining fertilizers, an alternative arrangement Should be made, Wherever necessary, by linking them with the nearest cooperative Society.

The Chief Secretary instructed Chief Development Officers to review fertilizer availability and distribution daily, While District Magistrates Should conduct weekly reviews. He emphasized that no complaints regarding overcharging or unauthorized tagging of fertilizers Should be received under any Circumstances.

During the review of the latest Status of wetland notifications, it was informed that not a single Proposal had Yet been Submitted by Jhansi, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gonda and Ballia. Taking serious note of this, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned districts to immediately convene meetings of their District-level Wetland Committees and Submit Proposals to the department by the end of this month. He also directed officials to Promptly forward Proposals for sites eligible to be designated as Ramsar Sites.

The meeting was informed that a total of 101 wetlands have so far been notified in 26 districts of the State, while 53 new Proposals have been received from 45 Districts.

The 13 Ramsar sites currently notified in Uttar Pradesh include Upper Ganga River (Bulandshahr), Sarsai Nawar Jheel (Etawah), Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary (Unnao), Sandi Bird Sanctuary (Hardoi), Samaspur Bird Sanctuary (Raebareli), Parvati Arga Bird Sanctuary (Gonda), Saman Bird Sanctuary (Mainpuri), Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary (Agra), Haiderpur Wetland (Muzaffarnagar), Bakhira Bird Sanctuary (Sant Kabir Nagar), Patna Bird Sanctuary (Etah), Shekha Lake (Aligarh) and Saman? — Suraha Tal (Ballia). In addition, Proposals for eight more Ramsar Sites have already been forwarded to the Government of India.

The Chief Secretary directed officials to review the Situation in flood-affected areas daily and maintain continuous monitoring in the affected regions. He said the administration must remain fully alert regarding the flood situation and that there Should be no laxity in relief and rescue operations. He also issued Strict instructions to ensure timely availability of medical facilities, food supplies and other essential relief materials to People affected by floods.

Principal Secretary Agriculture Ravindra, Principal Secretary Revenue Aparna U., Principal Secretary Forest V. Hekali Zhimomi, Principal Secretary Cooperation Ajay Kumar Shukla and other senior officials were Present at the Meeting.
