Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh Minister for Industrial Development, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, represented the State at the Board of Trade meeting held on Friday at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of Commerce and Industry. The meeting focused on the effective utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTA), reducing logistics costs, Strengthening India export Ecosystem and several other key Trade-Related Issues.
Addressing representatives from various States, Minister Nandi highlighted Uttar Pradesh remarkable export Growth under the Guidance of Prime Minister and the leadership of Chief Minister. He noted that the State exports have more than doubled, rising from ₹88,000 crore to over ₹2 lakh crore. He attributed this success to a robust export ecosystem comprising a dedicated Export Promotion Bureau, the Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Council and District Export Promotion Committees established across all 75 districts. As a result, Uttar Pradesh now exports Products across more than 15 Sectors, ranks first in India with 79 Geographical Indication (GI) Products and continues to lead in the One District One Product (ODOP) Initiative.
To further Strengthen the State export Sector and Safeguard the interests of exporters, Minister Nandi Proposed several key measures. He urged the Central Government to increase the number of NABL-Certified testing laboratories in Uttar Pradesh. Referring to the ongoing West Asia crisis, he Pointed out that rising freight Charges and longer transit times have adversely affected exporters and suggested Providing relief on the increased freight Costs.
The Minister also Proposed the revival of the Inland Container Depot at Madhosingh in Bhadohi to improve connectivity for exporters in eastern Uttar Pradesh and reduce logistics costs, Stating that the move would Significantly boost Exports. Additionally, he requested Separate Harmonized System of Nomenclature (HSN) Codes for synthetic and natural Products to ensure better Protection and Promotion of natural Industry.
The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State, ministers from various States, Executive Chairman and CEO of Amber Enterprises India Limited, along with representatives of trade and industry bodies, export Promotion councils and other Key Stakeholders.
