NEW DELHI : While the wet season is a welcome respite from the hot and sweaty weather, it comes along with many health problems, diseases, and infections due to humidity, dirty water, and changes in temperatures. This period sees the immune system working hard to defend the body against any viruses and bacteria. Persistent symptoms of any disease could mean that your immune system needs some more boosting. Recognizing these signs will prevent you from facing a worse problem before it arises. Here are ten such signs that should never be ignored.

Frequent cold and coughs
In case you are getting sick very often or have coughing fits that don’t stop, it may mean that your immune system has trouble fighting off viruses during the season. The rainy weather makes the perfect climate for viruses to thrive, particularly in densely populated or badly ventilated areas. Weak immunity means that your body won’t recover as fast as you would like to. This will lead to lingering illnesses that are hard to fight.

Constant fatigue
If you are tired all the time no matter how much rest you have had, it means that your body spends too much energy fighting infections or inflammation. It is typical for weak immunity to cause people to feel tired all the time and slow their recovering process. In the rainy season, the fatigue may also be caused by bad sleep, dehydration or constant illnesses.

Slower Healing of Cuts or Minor Wounds
If minor cuts or wounds take too long to heal, this may imply that there is something wrong with your immune system and it is not working as it should. The immune system is important in wound healing because it helps the body to protect itself from potential bacteria or viruses and repairs tissues. Humid weather makes people’s cuts or injuries more prone to getting infected and slow healing. Therefore, if your small scratches are still swollen, red, and painful for too long, it may mean that your body reacts to things poorly.

Frequent Digestive Disorders
As a consequence of the rainy season, people usually suffer from various stomach disorders and infections because of the contamination of food and drinking water. If you constantly have digestion issues, it means that your immune system does not react properly to threats. Because it is partially located in the gut, such problems with your digestive tract can sometimes reflect the state of your immune system.

Recurring Headaches
If one is having recurring headaches during monsoon season, this could be due to infections, dehydration, or sinus problems. In case your immunity is lowered, your body will be more prone to these causes, and even minor illnesses will make you feel uncomfortable. Other reasons for recurrent headaches include the change in temperature, lack of sleep, and being in damp conditions during the season. If you are having constant headaches without any apparent reason, this could indicate that your body is unable to manage the changes brought about by the season.

Sore Throat
In case a person keeps on having a continuous sore throat, this could imply a continued viral or bacterial attack. During the rainy season, the humidity of the weather can lead to throat infections since it can cause changes in temperatures and increase pollution in the environment. In case you feel pain or scratchiness in the throat again and again, it implies that there is an infection that is not cleared off.

Skin Infections or Rashes
The presence of moisture will promote the growth of fungi and bacteria, causing skin infections. Repeated infections or rashes could mean that there is a decreased level of immunity to fight against environmental threats. In the rainy season, there is a lot of moisture, resulting in the accumulation of sweat and bacteria in areas where they are usually folded or covered. Constant itchiness, redness, rings, or bumps could mean that the body is having difficulty controlling these infections.

Reduced Appetite
Inability to have proper interest in eating foods could be an indicator of the presence of an infection or immunal dysregulation. When the body is conserving its energy in the process of healing, appetite is usually reduced, which occurs in case there is an imbalance of the immune system. In the rainy season, poor appetite could also result from gastrointestinal disturbances, feelings of nausea, or lack of energy. If your appetite remains poor for several days, it is a sign that something is wrong in your body.
