Provision of 14.50 Crores for Student Mental Health and Wellness Policy.
Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated that the budget of 9,12,696.35 crore rupees for 2026-27, Presented by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is a strong roadmap to realize the grand vision of a developed Uttar Pradesh by 2047. He said that this budget of the Yogi government is dedicated to the 25 crore citizens of the state, which will play a significant role in empowering and making them self-reliant and will accelerate Uttar Pradesh goal of becoming a 1 trillion dollar Economy.
Minister Upadhyay informed that the Yogi government has decided to make extensive investments in the field of higher education. In the 2026-27 budget, a provision of approximately 6591 crore rupees has been proposed for higher education, which is 7 percent more than in 2025-26. This provision will provide a strong foundation for quality, accessible and modern higher Education in the State.
He stated that to encourage meritorious female students, a budget Provision of 400 crore rupees has been proposed for the Rani Lakshmi Bai Scooty Scheme.
Additionally, a provision of 40 crore rupees has been made for the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, which will enable students to gain practical experience by connecting with industries.
Minister Upadhyay informed that significant steps have been taken towards establishing new universities in various divisions of the state. A Provision of 50-50 crore rupees has been proposed for the establishment of Maa Vindhyavasini University, Mirzapur, in the Vindhyachal division, Guru Jambheshwar University, Moradabad, in the Moradabad division and Maa Pateshwari University, Balrampur, in the Devipatan division. In addition, a provision of 21-21 crore rupees has been made for new schemes for the establishment of Swami Shukdevanand University, Shahjahanpur and Kashi Naresh University Bhadohi. He also stated that the Yogi government is Prioritizing student mental health and wellness in higher education institutions in the state. In this regard, a new scheme for student mental health and wellness policy is being launched, for which a provision of 14 crore 50 lakh rupees has been proposed.
Minister Upadhyay said that the Yogi government objective is to develop higher education in the state in line with global standards, provide modern facilities to students and make them self-reliant and competitive. This budget is a significant step towards making Uttar Pradesh a developed state based on knowledge, innovation and youth Power.
Minister of State for Higher Education, Rajni Tiwari said that this budget of the Yogi government is a historic step towards providing better educational resources, modern infrastructure and opportunities for innovation to students. She said that provisions such as the establishment of new universities, the scooty scheme for female students and the mental health policy will play a significant role in making higher education inclusive, sensitive and future-Oriented.
