When is Putrada Ekadashi observed?
Putrada Ekadashi is observed twice a year, once in the month of Sawan and once in Paush. It is believed that the merit gained from this fast brings happiness, good fortune and growth in the family line. In particular, it is said to bless couples with children. For this reason, husbands and wives observe the Putrada Ekadashi fast in both Sawan and Paush.
Putrada Ekadashi 2025 Shubh Muhurat
According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Paush will begin on 30 December at 7.50 in the morning. It will end on 31 December at 5 in the morning. In Sanatan Dharma, the calculation of tithi is based on sunrise. Therefore, most people will observe Putrada Ekadashi on 30 December. Vaishnav followers will observe it on 31 December.
Auspicious Yogas on Putrada Ekadashi 2025
Astrologers say that several rare and auspicious yogas such as Siddhi, Shubh, Ravi Yoga and Bhadravaas Yoga will occur on Putrada Ekadashi. Worshipping Lakshmi Narayan during these yogas is believed to bring happiness, prosperity and harmony at home, along with the blessing of family growth.
Paush Putrada Ekadashi Parana
The Parana (breaking the fast) for the Paush Shukla Paksha Putrada Ekadashi should be done on 31 December between 1.29 in the afternoon and 3.33 in the afternoon. “Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on next day of Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence. Parana should not be done during Hari Vasara,” states Drik Panchang
