New Delhi : India are all set to take on Sri Lanka in the fifth and final T20I of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. All eyes will be on star opening batter and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, as she will be one of the key players as the Women in Blue aim for a massive series whitewash. Mandhana is coming into the match in sensational form as she slammed a Player of the Match-winning knock of 80 runs in the 4th T20I. She now needs 62 runs as she could end 2025 on a high and go past Shubman Gill to achieve a tremendous feat.
Smriti Mandhana has scored 1703 runs across all formats of international cricket in 2025. On the other hand, Shubman Gill is the cricketer with the highest runs across all formats this year with 1764 runs. If Mandhana managed to score 62 runs in the final T20I against Sri Lanka, then she will overtake Gill and go on top of the list of highest run-getters in international cricket in 2025.
Smriti Mandhana Breaks Multiple Records
With her 80-run knock in the 4th T20I against Sri Lanka, Smriti Mandhana broke her own record that she set last year for the most runs in a calendar year by a woman across formats. The 29-year-old became the first player in history to cross the 1,700 runs mark in a year. Until last year, no player had even made 1500 runs in a year, while Mandhana, alongside South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt, has rewritten the history books since the start of 2024.
Mandhana also completed 10,000 runs across all formats of the game. She is only the fourth women’s player in history to achieve the feat after Mithali Raj, Charlotte Edwards, and Suzie Bates to achieve the feat. The Indian cricket star has become the youngest to reach the milestone and the first to do so before turning 30.
