New Delhi: The confusion around the release date of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One is finally over. The makers have officially announced that the Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi-starrer will arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, across premium formats. Advance bookings for the much-awaited epic will open on Dussehra.
The announcement was made alongside a striking new poster that brings together some of the film’s central characters. Ranbir Kapoor appears as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, while Yash’s imposing Ravana dominates the background.
Ramayana Part One release date confirmed
Sharing the poster, the makers wrote, “On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, we celebrate the beginning of a new era. Yeh Ram ke Yug ka Aarambh hai. Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Part 1: In cinemas WORLDWIDE, across all premium formats, from 5th November. Advance bookings open on Dussehra.”
An international trailer distributed by Sony Pictures had earlier listed November 6 as the worldwide release date. Producer Namit Malhotra, meanwhile, had maintained that the film was being positioned as a major Diwali release in India. There was also speculation that Ramayana: Part One could open in India on November 5 after paid previews on November 4.
The first film will also receive an IMAX release alongside other premium formats, underlining the makers’ intention to present it as a large-scale theatrical spectacle. The film is set to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers are also mounting a much wider international language strategy, with the film reportedly being dubbed in nearly 40 languages. The latest poster offers another look at the scale and visual treatment Nitesh Tiwari and his team have chosen for the epic.
Ranbir’s Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi’s Sita and Ravi Dubey’s Lakshman occupy the foreground, while Yash’s Ravana looms over the composition. The elaborate costumes, jewellery and detailing continue the grand visual language established through the film’s previous promotional material. The makers have been revealing the world of Ramayana gradually rather than showing everything at once.
Earlier, the makers released character posters of the film’s ensemble cast.
Who plays whom in Ramayana?
Ramayana: Part One has assembled one of the most ambitious casts for an Indian film. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi essays Sita. Yash takes on the role of Ravana, with Ravie Dubey appearing as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The supporting cast includes Arun Govil as King Dasharatha, Indira Krishna as Queen Kaushalya, Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi, Sonal Jha as Queen Sumitra and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara.
More about Ramayana
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana has been conceived as a two-film saga rather than attempting to fit the entire story into a single movie. Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios is producing the project in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. While Ramayana: Part One will arrive on November 5, 2026, the second chapter is planned for Diwali 2027.
Sony Pictures will distribute internationally outside of India and is associated with the film’s distribution in the Hindi-speaking market through Dharma Productions.
