Sachin Malik: Uttar Pradesh has achieved a historic Milestone in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan-2026. The State capital, Lucknow, has secured the first Position in the country in the field of Vlean air Protection, overtaking Indore for the first time. This achievement is the result of continuous efforts being made across Uttar Pradesh to Promote Cleanliness, environmental Protection, improve air Quality and Strengthen urban management Systems.
Under the leadership of Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma, effective measures are continuously being implemented across urban areas of the State to improve Cleanliness, waste management, expand Green spaces, maintain roads and Public Places and control air Pollution. The fact that a total of 16 cities from Uttar Pradesh have secured Positions in various categories of the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan is a matter of Great Pride for the State.
Lucknow Moves Ahead of Indore
In Category-1, covering cities with a Population of more than one million, six cities from Uttar Pradesh secured Positions. Lucknow ranked first in the country, Agra fourth, Ghaziabad ninth, Kanpur eleventh, Prayagraj thirteenth and Meerut twenty-Second.
In Category-2, covering cities with Populations between three lakh and ten lakh, Six Uttar Pradesh cities also registered a Strong Presence. Firozabad ranked second, Jhansi fifth, Moradabad and Noida eighth, Gorakhpur twenty-Second and Bareilly twenty-Sixth.
In Category-3, covering cities with Populations below three lakh, four cities from Uttar Pradesh also achieved notable rankings. Raebareli secured 17th Position, Anpara 29th, Khurja 30th and Gajraula 31st.
Excellent Performance by Uttar Pradesh at Ward Level
Uttar Pradesh has also registered an impressive Performance in the ward-level ranking of the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan.
In Category-1, Ward No. 70 of Lucknow Secured the first Position in the country. Meanwhile, in Category-2, Ward No. 31 of Prayagraj secured third Position Nationally.
This achievement demonstrates that serious efforts are being made in the State to improve urban management not only at the city level but also down to the ward level.
Minister A.K. Sharma Expresses Gratitude to PM Modi and CM Yogi
Reacting to this historic achievement, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma said that Mahatma Gandhi had given the nation the message of Cleanliness, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi transformed Cleanliness into a mass movement and connected citizens across the country with it. He said that the achievements being witnessed today in the fields of Cleanliness and Clean air are the result of this extensive Public Participation.
He said that under the Guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the urban landscape of Uttar Pradesh is Changing rapidly. He termed Lucknow Securing the first Position in the country in Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan-2026 a matter of Pride for the entire State.
Minister A.K. Sharma Congratulates Officials and Citizens
Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma congratulated and expressed his Gratitude to the officials, employees, Elected representatives of all urban local bodies in the State and especially the citizens of Uttar Pradesh for this Achievement.
He said that Clean air and Clean cities cannot be achieved through Government efforts alone the Participation of every citizen is Essential.
Minister Sharma said that Lucknow has secured the first Position in the country in Clean air Protection by overtaking Indore for the first time. He described the achievement as a new source of inspiration for the State.
He expressed confidence that Just as Lucknow has secured the top Position in the country in the field of Clean air, the Government, municipal corporation and citizens will work together with complete commitment to make Lucknow the No. 1 city in the country in the Swachh Survekshan as Well.
