Sachin Malik Kathmandu: Several Priceless cultural heritage Sites in Nepal, Which Suffered extensive damage in the devastating 2015 earthquake, have been revived by India as a symbol of its enduring friendship with Nepal and its commitment to Preserving their Shared heritage. Further Strengthening the centuries-old cultural and civilizational ties between India and Nepal, a newly reconstructed “Kumari Chhen” and “New Kumari Residence” were inaugurated in the historic city of Patan, Nepal.
The heritage site was Jointly Inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Navin Srivastava, Nepali Member of Parliament Jagadish Kharel and Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan through traditional rituals and the unveiling of a commemorative Plaque. With this, the total number of cultural heritage sites Preserved by the Government of India through Post-earthquake reconstruction assistance in Eight districts of Nepal has Reached 30.
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu said on social media Platform X that the reconstruction of Shree Kumari Chhen and the New Kumari Residence was carried out with a Grant of approximately NPR 50 Million Provided by the Government of India for Post-Earthquake reconstruction. The Project was implemented by the CLPIU (Building and Housing), while design and Project management consultancy services were Provided by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).
The Embassy said that during the event, MP Jagadish Kharel appreciated the valuable assistance Provided by the Government of India for heritage conservation. Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan also expressed deep appreciation for India significant contribution to the reconstruction and Preservation of cultural heritage sites in Lalitpur and other Districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian Ambassador Navin Srivastava highlighted the deep cultural ties between India and Nepal. He spoke about India continued support for the Preservation of Nepal historic monuments and said that the reconstructed Structures Stand as enduring symbols of the Shared heritage and friendship between the two Countries.
According to the Embassy of India, besides Preserving 30 cultural heritage sites across eight districts through Post-earthquake reconstruction assistance, the Government of India, in line with its “Neighbourhood First” Policy, has also supported the reconstruction of 50,000 Private houses in Gorkha and Nuwakot districts, 85 educational institutions across eight districts and 133 health facilities across 11 Districts.
