Patna, Bihar: Just days before the Bihar assembly elections, Dular Chand Yadav, a gangster-turned-politician and supporter of the Jan Suraaj Party, was reportedly killed in Mokama, Patna district, while campaigning for the elections. Yadav had recently aligned himself with the local candidate of Prashant Kishor’s party.
What Happened?
The incident took place in Mokama, about 100 kilometers from Patna city. According to the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police, Kartikeya K Sharma, the authorities were informed about the death of a party supporter during the campaign. “The exact cause is yet to be confirmed, as the body has not been handed over to the police,” Sharma said.
Reports suggest that Yadav may have been involved in a confrontation with political rivals. Allegations indicate he could have been shot by supporters of an opposing party, though police say it will take a full investigation to confirm whether it was a targeted attack or an accidental incident.
Reaction from Jan Suraaj Party
Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, said senior party leaders have reached Mokama and are closely monitoring the situation. “We will share updates as soon as we receive them,” he added.
Kishor described the tense situation on the ground: “While campaigning, some of our vehicles were confronted and verbally attacked. I instructed our supporters not to respond, but some vehicles at the rear were attacked. Dularchand was the first to intervene, and unfortunately, this led to the incident.”
Authorities have confirmed that the matter is under investigation from all angles.
